Disagree. Put a PBR in spare chalk bag and try to finish it before your belayer gets you to the ground.

Alternatively, 12 in sling, duct tape, beer can of choice make a great way to add a beer to your trad rack

    Agreed!

I know its time to retire them when I walk across a wet parking lot and my socks get wet through all the pedal holes

There is a pretty cool climbing gym in Pittsburgh called Ascend. I was thinking of taking my wife and daughters so I can start them outdoor top roping in the Spring.

I routinely wear my 5.10s to work on Fridays before MTB trips. One less thing to pack and depending on the color, can totally be worn as a casual Friday shoe.

Been out of the climbing game for few years. But in my hay day, la sportivas where my go to. And another nod to bouldering vs routes here too. Nothing against ropes, just prefer bouldering. Less gear, less setup. Easier to have newbies envolved.

Good beer beta. But careful of the nut tool! Mine forced me to drink early last weekend after it prematurely pinholed my cheap-ass malt.

Don't know if anybody is interested, but us and a couple friends just did a road trip down to Baja and back. We shot a feature edit for Pinkbike which should be up in a few weeks, but we are also doing 3 "vlog" episodes, and the first one just came out. Not a tonne of riding in it, but a few little hits! Mostly just Tacoma stuff in this one.

Well it was good while it lasted... I broke my elbow boys haha, oh well...
I'll be down for a few weeks but I am not loosing interest in riding. I was having a blast until this happened. I was night riding and hit a covered rock, went over the bars and that was that. Scraped, bruised and broken but I'll be back soon.

That sucks man, Sorry to hear it.

If you're not already, go see a physical therapist, preferably a sports rehab one, and sooner rather than later. You'll be much better off in the long run.

thanks man, and yeah had my first appointment yesterday (broke it last wednesday) so I will be doing that. I broke my shoulder and tore the rotator cuff last year racing around down in Baja so I'm familiar to them. I'm just bummed I was really getting into the MTB and now I'll have to put it on hold for a bit.

yea putting a hobby on hold is always tough. but you'll be better off for taking the time to rest and recover properly! You're in it for the long haul.

there we go... lol no wonder. Yeah you're 100% right. Because of the rotator cuff I'll prob never be 100% again so If i can heal as best I can with this new injury, it will be best.

I may be biased lol, but I speak from A LOT of knowledge and experience, both from my patients and my own hobbies and injuries!

I got a pair of Sleuth dlx that I wear when I commute. Super comfy and the legendary 5.10 grip. Look sweet too.

Actually pretty stoked it’s gym climbing season again. Boulder has a huge combing scene with great gyms. Climbing is an awesome way to keep fit and stay strong in the off season.

Holy shit man, you’ve just blown my mind. I am definitely going to do that!

Yeah, it is, but I’d always rather ride my bike if it’s nice enough to be outside and I have the time.

Shit, sorry man. That sucks. At least it’s in the winter. Heal up.

Went for a twilight after work session today. Rode the downhill in the dark (with lights). Such a different trail at night.
There’s also an abundance of mountain lions in the area. And I know what my cat does with lazer pointers. I’m guessing that’s what my headlamps looks like to them in the woods at night...

Yeah I'm at least happy it happened when "rainy season" starts here in San Diego so I'll take the time to heal up.
Also, just saw your Europe trip posts from earlier this year (i'm bored and going through every page of this) and WOW that looks amazing. Such a cool experience for you!
