I just can't fully justify a fatty just yet. I'm weighing all my options for bike related stuff and fat-bike just isn't up there just yet. :/ maybe the tax gods will be nice to me and allow me to buy more bike stuffs later....:/

LOL, I could count the number of times I have ridden that bike on one hand. Maybe an extra one or two past that. I def find I just ski if the snow is good.

Now if I didnt live at the base of LCC, and lived in say, Michigan, a fatty would be a much more used item.

Project 321s are definitely legit.

I'll be in the market for a carbon 29er wheel with a dynamo front hub soon. Just need to find a smoking hot deal with a competent builder... or maybe even something used, but that's very rare with dynamos.

I'm running a set of P321s and love em, easy to work on, great engagement, purdy... But they're spendy.
As for carbon hoops, I'm a complete convert. I beat the living shit out of my gear. I'm on my 3rd set of NOX Farlows (all still ride perfect), and they've all been ridden HARD. Mostly Colorado Rockies riding, where the rocks are mean as hell. They're on everything from my DH rig to my AM. Every one of them have dings and gauges galore. They've all taken huge hits, but never, ever, failed.
I've run them on Hope, P321, and i9 hubs. All have had bladed spokes. I need to true them every 700-1000 miles, and even then it's usually just a few turns and good to go. I used to run through AL rims, about 2 per season. Between the replacements of rims, rebuilt, spokes, and regular tunes, I've actually saved quite a bit of money running them. Plus, they are worlds better than AL in ride quality.

If I were looking at new rims, I'd go to We Are One right now. The new Union promises to really be a great build. Plus, Lifetime Replacement Warranty. You break it, they send you a new one.

Yeah, it's time for a new wheel set... Dude, bite the bullet and get what you're after. Good wheels will make you happy. Maybe not your wallet, but YOU will be a happier and sexier person.

Maybe one day I'll get exactly what I want. But I invest all my excess cash and a blingy wheelset just isn't the smart move in my opinion. I am playing the long ball with my $ so hopefully one day a $1k wheelset is pocket change. I just gave the thumbs up for the LBS to do what they prefer which is lacing a RaceFace Arc DH rear wheel -trying to build equity in that relationship so hopefully if/when this biz picks up it will pay some dividends

    I know...I'm boring

You know Jake?! I used to live near him in Fresno. Just visited him in Bend in October. Plan on heading back up there this summer. I'm rolling on his hubs right now, they're the best!
