Anyone here been biking in Oneonta, NY? Have to go visit there for work sometime in the next few months and trying to decide if I should stay the weekend and rent a bike. Pinkbike had some good press on it a few years ago.

Whats the Trailforks beta on the area? I've found that is a pretty good gauge of an area's potential if you dont have a friend there to show you around.

Lunch lap potential is high. Not as packed as the SLC area, but a 5 mine ride from the front door of the office is a hard thing to complain about.

Yeah, there's more around there too that would be more weekend riding. May have to swing by their bike shop and see whats up.

True but I don't trust a $20 pvc rack to hold my $6,000 bike on a $40,000 taco lol.

I used a Pipeline rack for a while, same concept sort of rack. It was super fast and convenient and I was in and out of trails faster than anyone, but I eventually sold it for two main reasons. Security is a joke, and you are driving around with part of the truckbed blocked even when not biking.

I still use a cable lock that would be easy to defeat but better than nothing. But I have a tailgate cover for multi bike trips, and just throw the bike in for single bike use. All for a fraction of the cost.

In fairness, I have yet to see a bike rack that comes with a security level built in that is anything more than "token".

I have a big ol chain in a bike tube protector sleeve that I use with my shuttle rack.

Looks like a neat rack but idk if I’m down to pay that much to have it take up that much of the bed. At that price you could get a oneup rack and keep use of your bed. Or get a pickup pad for way cheaper

You could buy 10 years worth of pickup pads for that price.

I see Thule Insta-gators for sale used pretty often. Similar concept.

Haha I mean I still have my dakine pad that is probably 10 years old, I don’t use it but it was an easy $100 investment haha

If you have a longbed taco, they might work, but unless you are on a XS frame, they don't really work for the shortbeds. You can wedge one in diagonally if you have the right wheelbase, but it's usually no bueno.

ah yeah that's true, pretty antiquated for today's bikes and truckbeds that are sub 6'.

Wish you guys were closer, I cant get rid of my damn Kuat rack and i've got it listed cheap.

In other news I put door sill protectors on the Tacoma. Wish I got to it sooner, had some scratches from GF's clipless shoes but whatever just a truck.
