I just bought Hydra hubs instead. Nevermind a bell when they hear a swarm of angry 690poe bees headed their way

Hydra isn't nearly as loud as Torch. I don't own bling hubs/wheels, just ridden with guys that have both.

Its entirely possible the oil/grease they were running played into it, but most were still on I9 factory builds.

Edit: Not knocking them, I want a set of Hydras....or Torch.

The difference in what lube you use with Hydras makes a huge difference. Even demonstrated in the I9 video

I used too much grease on my torch hub and made it too quiet now. Something to be said for loud hubs..

I have i9 Torches and Hydra. The leaf spring system on the Hydra superior to the coil spring system on the Torch. I've had a number of Torch rear hubs where the coil spring gets mangled resulting in a clicking pawl when they should all be engaged. Plus those springs are hella hard to find once they fall on the shop floor!

Haha yea I've watched that one, and numerous other sound comparison vids. Thats the main reason I put the grease/oil comment in there. I have no clue what the dudes where running. Just folks I've bumped into on trail and ridden for a short spell and BSed. Then go along our merry way.

Here's a deal on a set of I9 Torches. Could have a buddy in Boise go look at them for ya. That and the Box cassette and you'd be well on your way to a budget bike

Ah the ol' KSL classifieds. I always forget about that being all East coast and such. So much good stuff on there.

XD driver is a no go for me, or the Box cassette. Good looking out though. Bling wheels are honestly just a 'want' and not a 'need' for me at this point in time.

Are bling wheels EVER a need?

KSL or nothing here in UT. Barely ever get any hits on Craigslist listings, but their KSL counterparts I get tons of messages on stuff.

Thanks for the link! Got the 11-46 Box Two Wide group set for $119. Was just shopping for a Sunrace 11-46 and a chain for my second 29er wheelset and this was just a bit more, but I get a spare mech and shifter, so perfect. Always wanted to try this drive train anyways. Currently running XT M8000 with Sunrace 11-46 which I understand makes Box cassettes so should be just a different graphic on the back of it.

Does anyone know if Box and 11 speed Shimano shifters and derailleurs are compatible? Lets say I smash my XT mech, can I just replace with Box Two or do I need to put on both Box mech and shifter?

I've only seen one of those forks in the wild and that wasn't nearly long enough to wrap my melon around, but it is... interesting.

Trust Performance is up the street from my office. They're some funky lookin things, that's for sure. Plus the linkage makes it look like a 50* HTA even though its much more conservative.

I did hear them say that someone wanted to send their Marin Wolf Ridge in to get fitted for one. THAT would be a look!
