Where’s this at? Just got in town last night. Doing some riding (snowboarding), so this snow is good news. But I also have the bike, so if the trails melt off I might be able to sneak in a bike ride and get you that stem :)

Wow! Hope ping to get some desert riding in next weekend.

That was out at Antelope Island yesterday on the Split Rock loop, my bike is leaned against a horse corral that the settlers created back around 1850 to keep their horses from co-mingling with the wild horses living there. Depending how long you are here there should be some decent riding by Wednesday, especially if you go early before it thaws.

Lets definitely get together whenever you're able, i can't wait for that stem to mount my new OneUp bars!

Chewacla was good man. Trails for days. Pretty cool that the state park has really embraced biking. The Kona demo truck was there today. Turns out I should have tested a bike or two (more on that later).

The lower trails are very much traditional single track, which I love. Not a ton of elevation, but built well and seem to be a great for all skill sets. There a lots of options, sometimes too much. They pepper in a good mix of ‘expert only’ lines throughout. A few have man made features, but most are techy natural sections.

The Upper has additional singletrack mileage and is where the majority of the flow/jump and freeride lines are. Honestly I didn’t spend too much time in that area as I was pretty spent by the time I got over there and freeride/jump lines aren’t really my thing. Had I known there was as much singletrack in that area I likely would have started there.

As usual, pictures rarely do justice. But this is one of the rocky/tech sections on the lowers.

Below is one of the reasons I typically don’t play around on ‘man made features,’ and why I’m somewhat regretting not demoing some bikes. I chose my line poorly on the exit of one of the features on Tiger Woods (upper section) and ended up falling 6 or so feet off the top of a big ass rock. Turns out my bike took a big hit too. The carnage area is soft and has a crunch to it. And I hear a pop when pedaling hard. I’m gonna look into carbon repair but I’m not too exited to be putting any amount of money into a frame I was thinking of moving away from anyway :annoyed:

Looks like an epic trip! You're going to love all of those trails. Is that HSD MTB group centered around any particular area?

Beautiful gravel ride today. It was fairly climby too.

No trail pics but I did get a new to me set of wheels from a fellow TW guy from the Bay Area. Then I hit Demo. I'm so out of shape that I was only able to do one loop. Oy...

Nice rigs. I was just telling my wife today that if I had to do it again, I’d go with desert tan. I like the blackout combo with this color.

Nice! Been thinking of getting this cover. I’ve read that the Velcro doesn’t hold up well. How long have you had yours and is it holding up well?

Are you referring to the TruXport tonneau cover, or the Yakima tailgate pad?

The TruXport velcro is rock solid, but it's true that the Yaklima pad doesn't have the best velcro on the flap. I personally don't worry about it much, though, because I fold and tuck the flap up to unblock the back-up camera. I also use a 1up hitch and/or roof rack for longer road trips, so I don't have any experience with the pad on the highway for extended periods.

I don't personally have any complaints about the Yakima. :notsure:

Sorry, I meant the tailgate pad. That particular pad gets really good reviews on fit and placement, however a lot of reviews complaint about the Velcro not sticking after only a few months.

Sorry man, that’s (more than likely) toast. You can get it repaired, and it’ll be good to go. But, if you fix it and try to move it, you’re going to take a hit...

@backcountryj, what @abacall said. That thing is done. If you're the original owner i would recommend a crash replacement through trek. Should be less than a grand(700ish) and then you've either got a new frame to keep and ride or sell at a better price than a repaired one. I broke a Devinci in 2018, crash replacement since it too met its demise because a rock strike. I received a new front and rear triangle for i think $600 and then i turned around and sold the entire bike for top dollar.

Yea I’m gonna look into the costs of getting it repaired. But with no intentions of being able to sell afterward. That would simply be a route of least short term investment and prolonging my time on this frame.
I’m kinda looking at it as a forced opportunity to get a new (or new to me) frame/bike. Certainly would have preferred different circumstance but that’s life.
Sadly I bought it used, so the costs are fully on me. My wife is pretty cool so it’s likely she’ll let me dip into our tax return a little, assuming we get a return rather than owe :notsure:
