Definitely worth every penny. I have a titanium gravel bike plus a few other high end 853 steel frame bikes and the Cutthroat rides better than any of them.

Just don’t want to be on a trip and bust a rim and be out for the trip. But lifetime is nice.

I get it. But I’ve got a lot of confidence in these, I’ve beat the dog shit out of them and they keep coming back.

You’ll be alright, this was only 1k of elevation. And hopefully you should be used to the N.C. humidity! 77% at 5 PM. FML.

We went from snow on May 12th to 92 degrees on May 26th. I haven’t watched the humidity numbers, but it sure made for a slow ride yesterday.

For any that are leery of carbon. Ultimate strength is very high for quality stuff and it doesnt deform it just breaks. So, unlike aluminum, it wont dent/bend/etc from big impacts it will just stay straight until the fatigue life it met (higher than aluminum) or ultimate strength is exceeded. As always, crap quality stuff, carbon or otherwise, is still crap.

Marketing BS but impressive anyway, plus Danny is always fun to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfjjiHGuHoc

The exploding carbon rim is a leftover myth from the early days. Strength, and constantly replacing your rims, is exactly why you should upgrade to carbon. Now, I'm not saying it's impossible to crack one (especially cheap ones), but my personal experience with NOX, SC, and Zipp is that you'd have to try REALLY hard to break it. Run really low pressure and case a jump into a rock garden, yeah, you might crack one. The most important factor in rim failure, especially carbon, is how it's built. If it's built well, it's incredibly strong.
The real reason most people shouldn't be on carbon is the stiffness and expense. Way too many people buy carbon rims for the weight savings, and while there is some advantages there, it's not as extreme as you'd think. Most high quality AM rims are damn close to carbon Enduro rims.
Ride feel however couldn't be more different. Carbon rims are stiff, and some are TOO stiff. A lot of manufacturers of cheaper carbon rims use more material to make their rims strong, which in turn makes them really stiff, and usually uncomfortable as they deliver so much feedback. Some of the better ones use design to keep the rim strong, yet compliant. Riding the Zipp rims after any other carbon hoop was a revelation. Aluminum rims have a nice damped feel to them, and the Zipp takes that feeling and delivers additional strength and reliability, with crazy good lateral stiffness.
Strength is the reason to buy carbon. And with some of the newer designs, the ride feel can be so much better than AL as well. If I were looking at new hoops, I'd first go for the Zipp, then look over at We Are One, and SC. The latter two have lifetime no questions asked warranties.
