Question - Ever since swapping my Fork to a Fox 34, I’ve been hearing a clicking type of sound coming from my headset, or lower fork area. It almost sounds like plastic hitting plastic sound but it’s a tick that I hear constant throughout the ride. Anyone know what that could be?

When does it click? Turning the bars or hitting a bump/ compression of suspension? Is the compression bolt tight enough?

So before the recent Tacoma World run on X-Tiger sunglasses I purchased some Oakley Field Jackets with Prizm Trail Torch lenses and a pair of X-Tigers to compare. I actually like the look of the Tigers and they fit ok, but comparing the lens quality back to back it’s a staggering difference. No real surprise I guess. The X-Tigers are a good option for cheap eye protection on the trail (safety glasses replacement) but if you can swing for a quality lens I think it’s worth the upgrade.

Yeah for the price they are definitely a solid choice considering oakleys and smiths are at least 5x more expensive. The x tigers didn’t fit me too well and the nose pad isn’t super comfortable but I just feel like there is no room to complain for the price haha

Not turning specifically, but going over bumps it happens...There's no play in anything with the headset or fork. But like going straight on a singletrack trail even the flat trail uneveness will make it tick every other second almost. The compression bolt where the compression knob is? Thats tight.

Yeah but it feels way cooler to say “X Tiger” than “Oakley”

Those trail torch lenses are def a step above. But if you compare the base lenses to china oem ones, theyre a lot closer.

Hit WOW with @ginseng27 this morning. 25* with wc of 17* at the top. Little bit of fresh to work through on the climb up, but then the most heavenly BC like loam and hero dirt Ive ever experienced in UT. Such a great ride! I continue to be impressed with the Sentinel through and through, and Id buy one again in a heartbeat.

loosen the side bolts on the stem and the compression bolt, take the headset out from the top and bottom for a re-grease. Look at the inside of your cups to check for unevenness or wear/ gouging. Look over the bearings. If all is good, re-grease and reassemble. Remember compression bolt on top cap first, then side bolts on stem afterwards. This is a simple and inexpensive solution that may fix it quick and easy. Other options start to get pricey like fork rebuild and such.

Thank you for the guidance! I’ll have to crack her open this week and inspect everything. Hopefully it’s all good and I just didn’t set something right. Fork rebuild is the last thing I wanted to hear haha. Especially because everything feels good while I’m riding, just an annoying constant clicking. Thanks again

Feeling too see if there is interest. I’ve got several Specialized Torch 2.0 shoes for sale. Some Oakley sunglasses, new clothing, helmets. Name it and I can see what I have and get you pictures.

no worries. I fix a lot of my friends bikes. Common thing I’ve seen is people tightening the side bolts on the stem before the compression bolt on top. You have to compress everything and get it right first, then the side bolts lock it all together. hopefully it’s simple like that, and not a bearing or cup being damaged. I’ll hope for the best brother! And nice new bike!

    ^^^ This.

Decide what bike type you want and Test-ride many bikes. Try at least 5 bikes minimum before starting to make decisions. Be conscious of, and try to keep the influence of Colors, brands, & marketing influence out of the decision. You'll develop a distinct preference in that process... When you find the right one you'll know.
This process has worked for me quite well. It is time consuming - but also fun!

Dude, Im still stoked on how good that WOW lap was. Easily my best ride ever on that trail.

And I did some thinking. We def lost more than 27 seconds crossing over those fallen trees.

Went for a ride with wifey. And while screwing around playing around I jumped into a blind rock garden, which led to this...
Looks like I’m off the bike for a few weeks. Broken hand and elbow.
