yes, and dont breath the carbon dust, you can use a spray bottle if you want, but I only really worry about dust if I use a dremel. Use a metal blade on your hand saw and its not too bad.

That will work. Any tape that you can wrap tightly, really. It's just too keep some compression on the carbon adjacent to the cut to limit how much it frays. A sharp blade should cut without tearing and make that unlikely, anyway, but still a good idea to tape.

    Welcome!
Phil's Trails are an excellent place to learn mountain biking. Plenty of great trail to have tons of fun on as you progress. Love Bend, hope to move out there soon.

Where are you riding? Always wondered what riding in Hawaii would be like.

Fanatik has tons of sticker variations. Check em out.

I'm going to say get the carbon blade. Not that expensive, unlike your bars. And you can use it to adjust the length in small increments without worry. I know other people use regular blades and don't have problems, but for me it's right tool for the right application deal.

Quoting myself? Yes... That's because I'd like to have some people add in if they can. @Gunshot-6A can you maybe put together a little something for the NS style rack?
I can't remember who's making the side racks here... If someone would tag them here, that would be great.
Anyone else with different rack or bike carrying options that I didn't cover, if you'd like to add to the page, please let me know. The more on there the fewer repeating rack questions there'll be.

*The site is all paid by me, no ads, no income. Just a place to hopefully provide some info for anyone looking for it.

    not enough.

Ah. Yes. Vertical racks need a section. Yakima, northshore, alta, etc.

I will say, the other day I had a Yakima hangover 6 bike fully loaded and another bike on my tailgate pad for a total of 7 bikes on my truck for shuttling.

Also, the evoc pad holds six bikes. I've done it before. It's tight but it can be done on a tacoma.

Absolutely, I'll write something up later today.

@Nimble9 is the side mount guy

Also, if anyone has used one of those seasucker window mounts, that'd be a neat write up.

I'm reading through some of it now, I know what most people are looking for is "which BRAND or which MODEL of this rack?" so maybe put links/suggestions to a particular one that you or this group recommend?

I never recommend anything but 1Up.

yeah that seems to be the thread consensus lol, but maybe people have great experience with the Yakima/Thule versions of the same thing and links or suggestions might be nice. The pictures do pretty well, but don't necessarily state which model is pictured.

Sick bike! I’m also in Bend, I’ve been hitting the trails quite a bit! My friend Meagan that rides with me a lot is also on a hard tail so if you want to link up let me know!

Yesterday we hit Tiddlywinks to Larsens to Storm King. From Wanoga to the Welcome Center. We put down 27 miles and my legs are wrecked haha but it was awesome!

You talk about taking off the front wheel for camper shell racks. Some bed/roof racks also require removing the front wheel.

Well I should say I'll never recommend anyone get a non-aluminum bike rack, the Yakimas and Thules are fine for a couple years but never end up lasting. They rust and the plastic parts weather and fade/crack/break. Anyone who sticks with biking for a couple years eventually just ends up with 1Up, haha.

Thanks! I am actually in Portland. I have been looking for the Chameleon all up and down the West coast for the last couple of months. Got it at a great deal, i think, so i drove down for the day and asked the seller where i should go. I was thinking of Smith Rock at first but he suggested Phils Trails. Me and the family go to Bend every few weeks so i'll definitely be returning to Phil's Trails. And hopefully in better shape to ride.

Other than the fit issues between trucks the Thule XT pro has been pretty solid. My truck is weathering worse than the rack and it’s only a year older. Literally the hitch is starting to get some nasty rust
