Oh weird, I have a Dakine DLX and someone could definitely just loosen up the straps and pull them right out with a little effort.
I still leave it on there pretty much 24/7 though. I figure the type of people who know what it's for and would want one (i.e. mountain bikers) generally aren't the thieving type.

I don't intend on going above two trays (especially when each additional tray is $220+). With the two trays and shuttle pad I should be able to manage ~7 bikes

yeah, mtb-ers seem to be generally nice to each other. generally. I've run into a few assholes here and there. usually kids.

So...I've tried the tray and shuttle pad...the bike wheels interfere too much with the rack to be able to do it. If you have something to push the rack out away from the truck (like a swingarm a la rakattach), then it might work. I have only been able to put a bike on the edges of the tailgate pad with the hitch rack installed...and with the wheels positioned a certain way.

I have taken 7 bikes before but with a yakima vertical hangover 6 bike and with a small 27.5 on one spot on the tailgate pad.

With all the new people riding walmart bikes on the trails now, I don't think I'd trust it unless the straps are indeed locked by the tailgate.

If you intend to carry 2+ bikes >50% of the time, go with option 2.

    Otherwise go option 1.

I once drank Coke from a Pepsi glass, so you could say I am also somewhat of a bad boy.

Good point. Regardless though I got it for its convenience, which is totally taken away if I have to take it off and put it back on every time I leave the truck.

Plus, if mine ever get's stolen I'll head over to alabama and grab @stronghammer's! :spy:

I just pulled the rack out a little to create more room. Or, with a double tray, leave the first tray unloaded.

yeah..i tried that...first tray unloaded, rack pulled as far out as possible..the first bike goes in jsut fine. a second bike's front wheel interferes with the tray so it won't sit on the tailgate properly. So, putting a bike on th eother end of the tailgate pad works for me.

It looks like you are measuring the square from the hitch instead of the swingout making it look bent?

Exactly. The "Roof Rack" tray design is different from that of the hitch-specific trays. They function the same, but the hitch trays are two pieces, while the roof rack is just one long tray.

It's just a bunch of legos that you can arrange in multiple ways, but you have to plan it out ahead of time in order to get the correct adapters and trays for the different use cases.

Love my Mojo3, and it definitely makes for a great all-around bike. I've often considered selling it and trying a short-travel 29er for a while, but I just can't seem to bring myself to pull the trigger. I have a large cross-country trip coming up with lots of riding out West, so that may be how/when I decide whether or not to sell it (afterwards).

IMO, you really can't go wrong with an Ibis. They're all very solid performers.

Over priced or still worth it for a 7 year old bike?
