Was it a big one? I was actually pretty surprised how quickly and easily I was able to get the 4' set up/torn down by myself. @flipnidaho

Speaking on alternatives to an awning, a lot of people I've been camping with recently just bring an easy up. Faster to set up, more portable, easy to load, and cheap.

If I were just hanging after a ride, I'd opt for this. Don't need to worry about taking up extra parking spaces with the awning or anything

Then your head would explode with how fast you can pack away a freestanding batwing style. 30-45 seconds for mine no sweat.

Thanks kinda the point of the thread, the more the better. I'd love to see road, e-Bikes, CX, clunkers, well-loved, single-speeders, old, new, whatever! I'll eventually add the whole stable in there.

One of those accordion style easy ups like this? No way thats faster to setup, especially with one person.

I believe it was 2500x2500, so probably a bit more to deal with than yours but these freestanding ones go up in 30 seconds as @Gunshot-6A mentioned. They're actually easier to set up than an easy up as well @MattJakobs. I used to have to put those easy ups....up all the time for college club sports. The easy ups definitely have their advantages though since they're not permanently attached and are mobile, but it's also nice to not take up bed space or have to pack it.

The senator and I meant freestanding as in batwing, self supported awning. No ground poles needed. I totally agree with your statement.

Yeah I misunderstood. I do like the batwing, just dont see how it would work with my setup, having the tent on the Diamondback like I do. Would work well with an SUV I guess.

That’s not a bad price. I feel like some of the other brands are $1k plus. 90* less coverage but way cheaper. I like the idea of an awning but hate the setup of the basic ARB and others. Especially when you get into the bigger sizes.

That one piece flexing rear triangle is intersting/surprising. My father in law has a Cannondale (Habit maybe?) that is like that. Never ridden that style of rear suspension.

I want one since I have an SUV/truck...but mucho monies.

Spoke too soon. The one @SenatorBlutarsky linked is priced reasonably. I was only familiar with the +$1k options as @113tac was saying

23Zero has a 180 style that folds out from the center (Peregrine 180R). Fits perfectly on a Prinsu.

I don’t think it would work, Thule makes a retractable awning meant for RVs that goes straight out but that might be too big for a cab mounted awning with the RTT since it might hit the tent. The Thule is expensive too.

The 180 I sent would mount to your cabrac just fine. It's $600.

They also make a 270 that is much cheaper than most of the 270 options. I have one arriving today!!!

Damn, I must be the only one that thinks setting up an easy up is faster and easier than my ARB awning. I can do my awning solo - it isn't necessarily hard but it's not easy either. For easy ups, I just stake one corner in the ground, grab the opposite corner and pull it away and it pretty much expands by itself.

I haven't seen one of the freestanding awnings.

Vs the ARB style, you're probably right now that I think about it. But the batwing ones are seriously fast!

That’s exciting! I’m going to add that to my buy list haha. As much as I want a new MTB I’ve been buying too many toys recently haha

I absolutely agree that an easy up is faster than an ARB awning, the easy up is not faster/easier than a freestanding awning though.

My wife approved of the awning because we all benefit! She also would've agreed to a new MTB....for her.
