Start by looking here to determine a part number then take that part number and do a google search. I bought mine a Amazon. It is 2.5" Center in and out. Looks like its part number 11246.

Ok, but which one? Do i have to measure the in and out pipes to determine the one that will fit?

If you are running the stock muffler now, your pretty much how mine was. Id crawl under your truck to be sure but it shouldn't matter all that much what you choose. The new one will be welded in. The shop that does it will add a small section of pipe if it needs to or cut off excess if it needs to. Look at that chart again and find the part # 11246.

The stock pipe is 2.25". I got a muffler with 2.5' opening which was very easy to weld to the stock pipe. As for center in/out, that seemed to be the best when I looked at my setup and it turned out well.

Here are the only pics I could find. They sort of show how the muffler is oriented.

Just what I needed, gonna pull the trigger and get the 18" magnaflow.
But is there any difference between the 4x9 and the 5x8?

mine is 2.5'' wide too. I even had 2.5'' pipe used out back. Think that helped with my sound too. I need to get a video and pics up.

And Yes Mike yours doesn't sound bad, but i looooovvve mine over yours. Its a lil meaner sounding and gurguly...but i like that lol So much of all this is just what you like that it doesn't really matter what you get. Cause it is going to be very differant and really, your not going to really get a second muffler in your life most likely so you'll prolly love it either way.

OP glad to see you went with magnaflow

Its louder but not raspier. Mine just has bigger piping so it gurgels and bubbles/backfires a bit. I dig it :D the 18'' on our trucks sounds great too tho. Not as loud tho mainly.

dude, why did you pick such a weird screen name?? lol

I'd say Magnaflow, it is the one that I am planning to run eventually. From all the sound files that I've ever heard and listening to these trucks with aftermarket mufflers in person, Magnaflow is what I think produces one of the best sounds. I've also heard a few sound clips of Thrush mufflers and those sound pretty good too. Never have liked the sound Flowmaster mufflers make on these trucks, they either just abnoxiously LOUD, but the quiter types they make just make them sound "ricey" and not right at all.

I recently had Muffler King shorten my tailpipe just behind the frame rail so it's completely hidden from the sides for the installation of my longer shackles. The truck is suuuuupppper quite, when you walk around it, you can't even really here the exhaust, not that it was noticable before or anything, but now it's just like completely silent almost, lol.

I had the 18" Magnaflow on my '97 and I thought it sounded pretty good. That truck got bought back but before it did I cut out the cat back. The '97 had 2.25" pipes.

I have a new truck now, '01 DC TRD, and I was wondering what is the pipe diameter on this truck? Hopefully I can reuse the muffler. thanks
