It’s 10x better than the old truck with the Atlas and it’s skid plate hanging down like a drag line bucket lol

 

Paul is great, he made the headers for my Lexus, and he also took care of me a few months back and welded my mid pipe back together after I cracked it in a few places. PPE is amazing.

 

Everything clears as designed. That passenger front has a little more to droop to go but that engine hoist was about to implode

63s still flex good, hopefully they don’t suck at everything else like they did on my 1st gen.

 

Finally motivated myself to wrap up the fuel side of the build. Walbro 255 pump installed in the modified Blazer sending unit, tank remounted for the final time and fuel lines/hoses plumbed. All that is left is to figure out a charcoal canister for the 1/4” line coming out of the tank and to wire the pump up to the engine harness once that is ordered. I did verify that the pump and sending unit/fuel gauge works as they should.



I’ve pretty much changed my mind completely on what I am doing about engine management and am planning on going with a complete LS swap kit from BP automotive out of Kentucky. The kit includes everything I need, down to the gas pedal, o2 sensors for $1600. Holley’s backorder/availability issues have scared me off, as well as all the issues that I read about daily on the terminator fb groups.

just having to push the condenser forward as well so had it out while I cut the lower core support

Good luck. My issue was width, I wanted to run a fat radiator up front. Couldn't fit it. Threw it in to the bed!

 

I'm having issues with radiator thickness, width, and height lol. The new steering box takes up room that prevents me from even going with a factory sized radiator, so its either gotta be shorter, or more narrow. I chose to go shorter but the thickness with fans and a shroud is causing issues so off with the core support till now

 

Might have to rear mount.

 

Oh no, it’ll fit up front. I just ordered an “LS swap” summit brand radiator that was the perfect dimensions other than thickness once fans were added. It just took me a while to figure out what the solution was gonna be to make it fit. I refuse to order wrong or questionable shit lol

Been slacking lately but also working out of town every week for the last 3 months


Anyhow, bought some things like radiator and fans, built my own shroud out of some .090" aluminum, and addressing things I put off originally.

• added a tube to tie the front hangers together and to the 4x2 crossmember
• mocked up and welded in front shock brackets. Those are 10" shocks in the pic for mock-up, ordering 12s eventually
• picked up some really nice 2012 Tacoma buckets to replace the disgusting bench seat
• Taylor plug wires
• heater hose ran (needs clamps still)
• Redline hood struts

Radiator mounting is my next hurdle. In the pic below, you can see how my steering box is all in the way, so I am having to push the radiator forward to clear it. This means the core support is getting chopped up and the condenser is moving forward as well. It'll be a few weeks before I get that figured out and done.


I also have changed my mind and am going to run an entire BP Automotive swap kit... brand new harness, flashed ECM, throttle pedal, and o2 sensors. Cheaper than a Terminator and will be in here in a week, rather than 9 months if I am lucky. I plan on ordering that in the next 2 weeks. I'm not adding any power adders so the Terminator will be a little overkill anyway imo.

Sir, I have no idea if you be interested but I have factory light gray carpet if you are interested in it. Just cover the shipping and it’s yours! I must admit it some of the holes are not covered with the factory bucket seats and it could be cleaned. I guess I could use a little Simple Green on it and pressure wash it with our pressure washer. It only take about an hour to dry out in our 117 degrees.
I replaced ours with the dark gray 12 plus carpet.

Also may I ask how far is the backside of the heads / valve covers from the firewall? Also if it’s really close is there an issue reaching the bolts on the transmission to pull the engine, changing the starter or doing maintenance? Sorry but the gentleman I have doing mine is reluctant to move the engine any closer than about 2.5” from the firewall. Thanks in advance.

 

I'll keep you in mind about the carpet. I planned on going vinyl this time around but I do like a cheap option

I think the closest anything is to the firewall is the passenger side valve cover and it is still probably 1" away. I'd have to look around and get a measurement. I've yet to pull the trans or even buy a starter yet so I can't comment on that, but by the looks of it, I will have plenty of room to access the bellhousing bolts (no more and no less than any other vehicle).
