snatched up some more aluminum for the center console. water bottle for interior space comparison. Might make lid padded if it feels like shit while resting my elbow on it, but we shall see. This is also getting the welds polished down and powder coated when done.

    Radiator mount DONE

I’m going to get some new rubber/foam later on for these top mounts. The edge trim rubber is just something I had laying around. It works, but it’s a little ugly

Core support 100% done, and I’m glad

I’ll have to add another removable support at some point when I decide to buy the trans cooler (needs to be sooner than later) because it will have to have something to mount to. I’ll cross that bridge later…

Anyhow, I had to space the latch out some and then bent up some flat bar to make the bolt-in vertical support. Nutserts make life much easier doing bolt on shit like this

You know us who can’t fabricate & weld like a machine hate you. The fan shroud cost me more than the radiator did! Then Andy wanted it powder coated. These are Vette accessories I.e. closest to the engine block.
Oh, I had to purchase another water pump with the outlet farther to the right.

I guess I need to get into the fan shroud business. I have a grand total of around $62 in mine and that cost was just the material, which I overpaid for by about 30%. I’m still deciding whether or not to powder mine. Might do it along with the air air box and radiator overflow tank that I still have to build

Oh yeah, the company that built mine had me go purchase the aluminum sheet from industrial metals other wise they would have to charge me for a full sheet of aluminum. They would pay wholesale and I have to pay them retail and not get the leftover aluminum. They quoted me $200 to $250 max. They called me to tell me it was finished over almost two weeks late I walked in to see what they had done and I must admit it was beautifully made. They then gave me the total price! I said wait a minute you told me $250 max. Oh, that was just to cut the two 12” holes on their CNC machine. I paid just under $574. I would have just turned around and walked out but they had my new Mishimoto and I had just under $70 for the aluminum. So yeah I say you’re missing out. Look at the prices KSR in FL gets for fabrication.

Been lacking lately, but some things that I have managed to accomplish since the last post:

    - sound deadener in both doors
    - center console done (until the point of coating, then have to add a couple small things)
    - mounted/ran oil catch can
    - Ran 2awg cable from alternator to new battery location
    - installed AN to radiator hose adapters on radiator
    - welded 3.5" exhaust pipe from collector to just after the first hanger. I'll cut what I need off the end when I figure out what muffler to get

    IMG_0816.jpg IMG_0929.jpg IMG_0930.jpg IMG_0931.jpg IMG_0933.jpg

The harness/computer setup I want will *I think* be discounted for black friday, so that is happening whether I am ready or not, because that's the best price I will probably ever see for it again. Still lots to do before it can fire

God you are an incredible welder! :welder:  Do you give lessons? :boink:

And *I* would buy the largest 3.5” muffler you can get in there! When my 2.7L, 2TR was supercharged with the LCE header. I paid an arm and leg to someone to build a 304 SS, TiG, butt welded 2.5”, exhaust system. I supplied everything but the 2.5” pipe and labor. So using an expensive high flow cat I purchased from PPE, a 5x8x14 and a 5x11x22 Magnaflow then out the back with a hidden turndown it DRONES like an SOB!!

I found another Stainless welder but they don’t build exhaust systems, they make commercial vents, tables for restaurants & etc… But they said if I fit the pipe and mark where I wanted to join the pipe together they would weld everything. So I found what they call “Tack Clamps”. It’s nothing but an exhaust clamp with 3 or 4 holes cut in the center so the pipe can be tacked together. It’s time for taller jack stands and a creeper w/ bigger wheels. Our garage floor has wide seams in the floor and I’m always getting stuck! :frusty:
Anyway here’s a link to the overpriced clamps. I wish I knew someone with water or laser cutter.

    Well for my build,
Andy used a 2007 factory service manual to find out the direction of the outlet and return for the fuel. Then hooked up the GM fuel regulator per inlet and out let. He went to try to start the truck and it wouldn’t start. He checked and checked and checked all the wiring. He changed the fuel pump again and purchased another GM regulator. Still wouldn’t start!!! He made a bunch of calls and everyone said everything sounds like it should start⁉️
He said he could hear the fuel pump running but still no fuel pressure at the fuel rails where we have a fuel pressure gauge mounted to the fuel rails. He pulled the fuel pump again to examine the fuel lines in the tank then realized the factory service manual was wrong! He changed the GM regulator around and it fired up the second try. He was so upset with himself for not recognizing the issue. (At least that’s what I understand about the whole situation… :notsure: )

    :annoyed: :frusty: :anonymous:

He’s now going to button up the wiring and build a temporary exhaust so I can get a TiG 304 SS system built. I really like to have a set of headers built too. I ended up with a set of Summit/Holley cast iron & coated manifolds. They were the only thing we could find that cleared the steering shaft.

    Want any work Todd!?

I was reading about the starting problems on your thread but didn't know that it was figured out, nice! Hopefully mine will crank soon.... hopefully

I'm still a no-go on exhaust work, especially headers. Too tedious for what I am really set up to do.

you still happen to have the old carpet? I remember you saying you did a whole back. Still weighing my options on either carpet or vinyl lol

Oh Jesus! I just threw it in the carpet in the trash last Wednesday… Sorry!

    *Edit*
Don’t think you be interested but I have two sets of Factory Headlights. I sanded them to get painted and took them to a shop to have them painted with DuPont clear. (Refurbish) For some reason they keep fish eyeing even after using liberal amounts of wax and grease remover. I have sanded them back down using 320,400,600 & 1000g wet. Now they need polished. They are yours if you want them. Our Garage is FULL of shit sorry stuff that’s got to GO‼️
