They are aircraft-quality clip nuts with self-locking nuts. Good stuff. I used them on the mounting plate for my relays and the backing plate for my CB mounting bracket that sits above my headliner.

    Small update.....

    -Speedometer is installed
-Exhaust cut off behind the cat and ready for a new setup. Still haven't decided if I'm doing it myself or paying a shop. I hate exhaust and paying a shop shouldn't be too expensive as I'm reusing my current muffler. I did add a hanger that comes off the link mount. Before, I only had one hanger by the muffler and it had a lot of movement. I was afraid that I would start experiencing cracks in the exhaust so it needed to be addressed.

I'm going to mount the planetary shifter where the stock case shifter was, but I've got to wait on some thin sheet metal to be delivered. I also have to build a sort of "patch plate" over the new shifters to cover up the whole I had to cut for them.

Also dropped off the rear driveshaft to be shortened, but due to the funky necked down tube that Toyota uses, they have to re-tube the entire thing. They have to have that tube sent from California so it'll be a week and a half or so until I get it back.

That's awesome, Todd. It can't ever be simple though, can it? A week and a half waiting on the driveshaft? Ouch.

Only thing I'm not keen on is where you have your shifters. I think that would annoy the hell out of me having them constantly rubbing against my leg. :p :D

I can wait on the driveshaft. Plenty of other things to get done before then. Hell, the driver rear wheel cylinder started leaking badly just sitting here :notsure:. Gotta replace that now too.

As for the shifters, no doubt they will be rubbing my leg occasionally, but I think they are far enough over to not really bother me. They are as far right as they can be without interfering with the trans shifter. If down the road they start to bother me, I can move them.... somewhere lol

I know the feeling...like when my rear wheel seal started leaking just sitting in the carport, haha. I did finally swap out my busted CV Saturday. Still need to flush my clutch fluid though. Skid plate's still off as well, but I need to get some more black paint to touch up the areas that got scraped off at the camp & ride...plus, I'm hoping to get a new set of inner tie-rod ends for x-mas so it'd have to come off for that anyway. :D

Planetary cable shifter is done.... I was able to put it in the factory transfer case shifter location.

Tomorrow I'll work on finishing up the twin stick shifters

Shifters are done. The boot on the twin sticks is half ghetto but it will work so I don't care. Don't mind the vinyl floor near the shifters either, I screwed up cutting that to fit when I first got the truck lol.

Finally removed the parking brake cable since it is no longer used. There were two brackets right by the fuel filter that came out as well which gave me plenty of room to bend the hard lines and move the fuel filter out of the way of the transfer case.

Replaced the leaking wheel cylinder as well and as soon as I put a wrench on the second bolt, it sheared off with just the slightest amount of force :frusty:. I'm very close to just ordering a disk brake conversion for the rear. I'm over drum brakes.

It sheared off in the new cylinder? That blows. You might as well go to discs since you aren't running an e-brake anyway. It'd save ya from having to manually adjust the drums all the time as well (since the drum self-adjusters work via the e-brake). :D

    Shifters turned out cool.

Go with the Diamond disc conversion. What a nice clean design.

That's a slick setup, but I'm not sure it will adapt to a stock Tacoma axle. I'll have to research it.

Trail gear makes a complete kit for mine, but they want $450 for it. I can't justify paying that when I may be able to make my own for cheaper.

    still...waiting...on...rear...driveshaft...

Been over a month now since I dropped it off. I called them today and they said that the material should be here Wednesday and to call them then. If it does show up then, the shaft should be done very shortly after since it is at the top of the waiting list now. Once I get this (actually I could do it now), I can keep going on adding to the transmission crossmember with some more tube and some plate to protect the skid. Zero percent chance that I take this thing wheeling without a skid protecting this transfer case.

    Hopefully more updates coming soon

Got the shaft the other day. Went to put it in today and the fucking flange on the Atlas doesn't match the drive shaft pattern. Had to make a call to Jess @ HAD to get one machined to my pattern. The shitty thing is that there is a decent lead time due to all the KOH stuff going on. Not a huge deal really, he said he should have it done by the first weekend of February which is one week before my first planned ride of the year. We will see what happens. It's my fault for not checking the patterns really, but since the front shaft bolted up no problem, I assumed the rear would as well. Oh well, this should be the last thing needed to make it driveable, but not wheelable.

Atlas skid plate has been started. Decided that 3/16" material would be sufficient for this as there won't be much flat surface area, plus the design will add a lot of rigidity.

This will be welded to the new rear crossmember and will bolt to the existing transmission crossmember. That way, I don't have to pull the entire crossmember/skid plate to do something simple like change fluids or drop the transfer case.
