Allison Transmission?

IS there any way to put an allison transmission into these trucks?

 

Ahhhhh, why ?
Toyota makes some of the strongest transmissions in the industry. I could see doing what Dodge or GM does and order up a diesel/ transmission combination from subcontractors if all I engineered myself was crap to begin with, but why the trans alone ?

 

just wondering.. Im doing a vw 1.9 L tdi swap...

diesel engine...

 

and might want to go the route of manual to auto conversion

 

i could stay with the w56 thats in my 1994 that im restoring, but i wonder about higher rpms while driving. i saw a vid of a 1993 with vw engine. rpms seemed ok but a bit higher than should be... id think? it'd be better to have a tranny thats designed for the tourque n rpm bands that diesel like to run in

you think the w56 is fine ? i gues it could work...

 

i was thinking aftermarket transfer case too for better 4wd capabilites

 

vw came with the zf automatic 5 speed

 

For the T-case, go with Inch Worm or Marlin Crawler.

 

1.9L TDI is going to loose any benefit going thru something like an Allison. Even the smallest ones are huge in comparison to a Toyota trans. the GM trucks using the Allison 1000 had to have taller frame rails to raise the cab to clear the trans ( which is why you only got the Allison in the 2500 HD and 3500 HD< they had the taller frame) but was never offered in the 2500 Avalanche or 2500 Suburban.

 

ok how about swapping in a R150F and 4wd transfer case.. seems like the gear ratios are a bit better for the 1.9L TDI

 

im mean logically.. i want a straight answer not some snarkey answer

and choose heavy duty performance type..

 

Just know that the new Cummins chassis class they have the option to run a aisin tranny as their heavy duty tranny.

 

new nissan titan xd with 5.0 L cummins comes with an allison 1000 i believe?

 

It would be better to have a compete engine and transmission designed for a truck.
