Off of their website. "Toyota Texas Tours and Visitor Center will be closed August 10-14, 2015." Re-tool Time?

Cap, you could schedule a tour and maybe see your truck getting built?

Interesting note I saw at the tour booking page. They will not let you take a legal concealed weapon in the plant. Not even if you are law enforcement.

Workplace violence is real, boys and girls.

If I knew that you could tour the plant, I'd have done two already. It's only about 90 minutes away, and a good excuse to go to San Antonio. I may have to take a "field trip" and see if I can catch my truck being built. There would be pics, of course.

Got a link to that tour page?

That's okay, it's not worth going. No cameras? I'll just watch "How It's Made Dreamcars" again.

This was a pretty cool vid. More tundra than tacoma but still worth a watch.

Has some interesting footage of the TX factory:

Yes it is and so is domestic terrorism. Our brothers in Chattanooga fought back though. The Navy CO of that facility and at least one Marine actively engaged the murderer with personal weapons. There is speculation that one of them may have taken down the shooter. Only they couldn't conceal an AK and bring it to work. GO NAVY and SEMPER FI.[/QUOTE]

I doubt "Demand is gonna be crazy." Toyota now has serious competition from the GM Twins. From what I have gathered on the new Tacoma it won't beat out the twins in anything. Don't know the gas mileage yet though. Toyota will do fine with their fans, but other people will definitely be shopping around.

Hadn't really looked at them until I read your post. The Z71 looks pretty sweet and @ 305hp too. Going to the dealer right now to take a peek! :D

If the main differnce is only 40 horsepower, I'd rather be driving the truck that's worth siginicantly more, 5 years out. Tacoma has always been king on resale value. Plus, that Chevy interior is absolutely atrocious. Those ugly ass vents!

Agreed! I had to see it for myself, just got back from the dealer. Exterior is not bad at all in person, actually it's pretty
nice BUT that interior is hideous and that's where we spend all of our time and to make the switch just for 35 xtra hp...no thanks!

I like the taco way too much and I knew even on the way there I was making the drive for nothing but I had to see
    it in person.

Captain Ameritruck is in the computer! DCLB TRDSPORT in Blazing Blue Pearl with all the interior electronic goodies. Aftermarket leather, but they do that all in-house. Tonneau cover, chrome steps (I like the chrome - get over it), and they come with towing standard now. The best part was getting the direct number to their leather seat folks to possibly modify the leather seats they install with a red/white/blue insert - and that was Autonation's idea! Awesome!

Nassir (Internet sales mgr) and Brian (Inventory mgr) told me to tell y'all thanks for everything. Thanks to last weeks "leaked" ordering info, they were able to decipher the codes in the computer; Gulf States didn't have that info yet. They also said that they will beat any other Toyota dealer in central Texas especially for any ToyotaWorld members. Simply ask for Nassir, tell them Captain America sent you, and they'll manipulate allocations in the system to get you a truck. They want to be everyone's source for Tacos. My experience with their service department for all my other Toyotas has been great, so I will definitely be taking my truck there for service.

I'll be making a new thread in the Texas Region Forum with all the contact details. They've promised to keep me up to date with my truck's progress.

    Can't wait!!
