I've been with Allstate for a few years now, and when we signed up, my wife and I decided to get the Allstate Drivewise monitors for our vehicles to save up to an additional 10%. I don't care if they monitor my driving since I really don't have anything I'm worried about. I was just thinking "Hey... a discount is a discount." I was able to retrieve driving reports through their website with no problems for at least the first few months I had the device (back when I was curious what the results were).

Now after having the device in my car for over a year, they randomly unenrolled the device for my truck and I lost the discount. They claim they emailed me, but can't tell me when.

I called to ask about it, and Drivewise claims that the vehicle was automatically unenrolled because they have "problems receiving accurate data from 2009 model year Tacomas," specifically mileage data. According to the phone associate I spoke with, that doesn't mean they had a problem with my truck and device... just that since they have problems with 2009 model year Tacomas, they unenrolled ALL 2009 Tacomas.

I haven't been able to find anything documented anywhere else on this issue affecting certain model years, and I would imagine that if they're having the problem with 2009 Tacomas, they would have problems with other 2-Gen years as well.

Anybody else have Allstate drivewise? If so, what year, and have you heard of anything similar?

(Let's not turn this into an "Allstate stinks" board. I've had no other problems with Allstate, but if I don't get the discount back, I'm going to be looking at other insurers.)

I certainly understand wanting a discount. A buck is a buck, after all. However, any device that allows strangers to monitor my life, to the extent Drivewise does, is far too intrusive for me.
