Was at the dealer this morning getting some stuff done to the 3rd gen .

Decided to check out a 4th gen 2025 sport 4x4 with trd options in dark cement gray double ca. auto with basic options no upgrade . Priced at 45k .

was offered 25k for my 3rd gen with 63k miles .

payments would of been 483 72months . Interest rate I think was about 6.00 percent which was a bit high .

took it out for a few test drives . Coming from a manual it’s a really hard choice to make when you have been driving one since time began lol

Loved the look of the truck seemed to shift ok .

Maybe buyer remorse but I couldn’t part with my 3rd gen . At first I was like ya let’s do this . After a little while that’s when it sunk in it’s like giving up a friend u have been with so long . The manger was like really coming down on the new truck to get a sale .

I asked them to give me a few days let me sleep on it .they obviously didn’t want to . So I grabbed my keys and left . The sales guy was a bit passive aggressive after this since we spent 4 hours negotiating . Making comments about how long he spent with me .

Sometimes in life you just have to go with your gut feeling and what makes you happy . I bought my first 3rd gen in an auto and hated it .

The biggest thing I didn’t like was that it was an auto really couldn’t get past that and the seat seemed to be digging into my lower back . But wasn’t sure maybe my body was getting adjusted to the seat .

What’s your guys thoughts .. would u have gone for it or stayed with the 3rd gen .
    .

I had a 2024 Tacoma Limited as a loaner while my 2021 Automatic Sport was getting TRD Lift installed - It was totally a pleasure to drive for 100+ miles.

The Limited comes with 18" wheels which I discovered was about the same height as my lifted Sport once the Bilstein 5100s were installed.

I've got 14 payments until she is paid off!

My interest rate back in 2021 was/is 1.8%.

I'm paying less then $20/interest a month now until payoff.

I'm keeping the payments locked in since I already budget for it...it will be nice to have an extra $600 when the time comes!

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
What's the specs with your 3rd gen? If I was offered 25k on mine I'd give the salesman a look that would probably let him know he was close to getting punched in the face. Price on the 4th gen doesn't sound terrible.

Is your truck paid for? What was the amount being financed?

You’re 9k away from paid off ? Do you really want to go in the hole for 6 more years. Just my opinion.

Pay that that truck off as fast as you can then have extras cash to do fun stuff. But I do understand the shiny stuff.

I think that would be a solid opening trade offer. The dealer I just bought my 2024 from has a super clean, one owner 2022 TRD off road with 33k on it that was sitting right next to it. It was listed at $35k, but they've had it since February--I'm sure they would take less. The OP's with 63k would probably retail at around $30k?

Know what’s important to you. Choose based on what best fits your needs/wants/preferences.

If a MT is a big deal for you, then you’d likely regret any AT purchase.

I love MT, but I also live in big city traffic and that’s a big bag of No Fun with MT. Been there, done that. My daily driver will be AT. My fun car is 6MT do I have my fun. Just not in traffic.

Honestly if my ‘17 Taco hadn’t been rear ended with frame damage and likely totaled (waiting to hear), I wouldn’t be looking at 4th gen.

Keep your current truck until you're simply bored of looking at it, or complaining about things it's missing.

But gotta ask: were they working on your truck for 4 hours and you were stranded without a ride? That's a lot of testing driving and tire kicking.

Check with Carvana and Carmax to see what they'll give you and use that with the dealership. They probably won't match but having a trade-in will save you some tax, depending on your state.

Yes, always go into any potentially trade inclusive negotiation with a live Carmax / Carvana offer in your pocket. Know the tax impacts so you can clearly evaluate dealer trade offer.

Edit: always walk out at least once to test the “deal”
