Almost died today

Went rabbit hunting at a friends house today and it was snowing. He has a steep drive way. Started down in low 4x4. I went sliding and was making plans to use a pole to stop. Went to use the brakes and they did a lot of different things but stop me. Lucky for me the drive way leveled alittle and I was.able to stop . Then I had to call the friend to bring me chains so I get down the hill. It got steeper and had a very sharp coming up. The bad news is he just drove down in his jeep with no problems. All he could say to me is how I can't drive. That could be very true. I like to say it was the grandtrek at 20 tires . The positive side of the story is the wife thinks I need new tires.

 

Did ABS kick on ?

Damn you ABS

 

ABS is horrible in the snow. I had one recently where I hit a bump in the road while braking in the snow, damn truck seemed like it accelerated.

 

ABS INCREASES stopping distances on snow

 

We must have less slippery snow here I've never had ABS almost kill me in the snow the way I always read here.

 

This cannot be said enough.

Also yes the Grandtreks are poop, I got ride of mine within 500mi of receiving my truck.

 

Snow type is definitely a factor IMO

Our heavy , wet coastal snow here is terrible to drive in , dry , powdery snow is no issue

 

Glad ur ok......sometimes abs does indeed kick in at the worst times

 

X2 If I get east of the mountains into the cold dry snow it's so much easier.
