    Hey y'all!

Been doing a great cross-country camping trip and have been doing a LOT of off-roading. Didn't take long for me to realize that scoop had to go! Looked in the Hood Swap Thread and found my boy @GruntledCitizen. It worked out great cause I'd planned to swing through Cali anyway. We met up and got em switched. Mine fit his like a glove, but the OR hood is leaving a wider gap on the passenger side than the driver side on my truck. Also it takes more effort than it should to latch it closed. We tried shifting it in the bolt holes on the brackets as best we could, but that didn't make a difference at all.

Anyone got any insight on this or an idea how to adjust it?

Other than that, I'm super satisfied with the change. The extra visibility is great and I'll probably end up throwing an anti-glare skin on it for good measure.

Maybe it’s just the pictures but the quicksand shade of the hood and fenders don’t match.

I was thinking the same. But the truck is still covered in a lot of dirt, whereas the hood was cleaned right before the swap. Pictures were taken after like a half hour or so of highway driving (hence the bug guts).

Maybe he had it painted by the same fukksticks that painted mine. I’ve got 1 dark side and a light hood. We should trade hoods. Let me know when you’re in Pa.

They painted the roof and left side. They must have been absent when the color matching lesson was taught at school.

I have a second gen but when I had a body shop put a factory scooped hood on my o/r they called to tell me it fit and opened but the gap was bigger on one side and couldn't adjust it anymore. they bought some new bolts for. said the factory ones were shoulder bolts and couldn't adjust them. don't know if you could do the same.

Haven't had the hood or anything painted. Everything is original. The hood looks good. It does look lighter on my truck but it is also dusty. Once I wash it up I think it'll match up better. Was great meeting you.

You must be short, I'm 5'6 and have no issues looking out the windshield. That sport doesn't look right without the scoop. Make it an OR by painting the fender flares and front bumper black.

Outside vs garage kept? My Quicksand lived outside for three years until I sold my Jeep. When I ordered my ARE shell my truck was a hair lighter than the shell.

Not that this has anything to do with what you asked, but you should be able to tell if your truck paint is faded... open the door and compare the jamb.

I'd be very surprised if QS faded that dramatically. I'd suspect it's just a variation in batches. I'm not a professional painter, but I'm pretty sure they have to tint match even factory paint codes, not only to deal with faded paint, but also for slight variations from the factory.

My dad had to have his front bumper and hood replaced after a fender bender. He has a 2018 TRD OR in the Blazing Blue Pearl. He was crushed when it happened. He babys his truck.

The shop he went through is top quality but holy hell was the paint job atrocious. They didn't paint match worth crap. Now when his truck is sitting in the sun, it looks like his truck has a tanline. He can't tell, but I can, and I'll never mention it to him.

It will be very rare that same color body panels swapped from different same color vehicles will match.
A good paint shop can blend to match.

    Re: Paint

Honestly that bit on the front (around the grill) was darker than my scooped hood. Same as it appears in this picture. If there is any difference in the paint, it's not significant enough for me to notice/care. Obviously if @GruntledCitizen wants it back after his wash, I'll oblige. But it seems fine to me.

I'm not short, but when navigating rocks and trails the more visibility, the better. I think it looks fine. Just this morning I was actually thinking of ditching the flares altogether. As for the bumper, I'm leaning toward one of those steel ones that goes right where that painted black part is on the OR.
