I have a like new alpine one-z928 hd head unit. I only had it 1 1/2 years. Sold my Tacoma. This thing is amazing. Has too many options to list. Come with perfect fit kit 2012-2015 Tacoma. Will sell separate. Works perfect. Also comes with pac timer to use all function to include DVD while moving! I'm very picky and wife would say OCD. This thing had zero scratches and is working perfect!! I sold my 2014 Tacoma. New truck has navi and screen already!

did this unit work with the factory back up camera?

 

Yes worked perfectly. My Tacoma was a 2014. The camera was in my factory head unit. I payed a guy on eBay to make me a plug for my factory camera. The alpine camera is 6 volt input and Tacoma is 12 volt camera operating system. The alpine accepts a yellow rca video I put for camera. The Tacoma has like a 3 wire camera. Pretty much spliced wires to a yellow rca. But I didn't want to cut any words on my Tacoma. I'm way to OCD for my truck not being perfect.

 

If your camera is in your mirror there is a thread how to convert it to your head unit also. Plug is at your fuse panel under steering wheel I believe. This system is plug and play and very easy to install. The hardest part is getting all the wires to fit. I tried to install nice and neat. I talked to local stereo shop and he said unzip tie everything and push all the wire to the left and right side of dash behind your vents. You'll know what I'm talking about if you have ever removed your head unit. The steering wheel controls work as well. Everything is just like factory. Blue tooth answerin for steering wheel, xm, DVDs cd. iPod. iPhone and androids. And navagtion works great and fast. It show the speed limit and you can set it to alarm you if your speeding by what ever percent 5, 10,15% and so. I'm and serious when I say this is the best head unit. It has everything and works perfect. No scratches.

 

It is lifetime nav updates. You can also download screen saver like TRD or Tacoma logo. I don't know how but I have seen it done on Tacoma world.

Does it work with the factory Bluetooth microphone? Does it come with the steering wheel control adapter? Did the back up camera retain the guidelines?

 

It comes with its own Bluetooth mic. I pulled my factory one and put the alpine on in its place. It's between your map light in head liner. Or you can clip it on your head liner above your rear view mirror. You just pull you oh shit handle and sun visor. Run it that way. It take like 10 mins to install.

It is a complete plug and play. Everything works on steering wheel and comes with everything! It comes with steering wheel adapter. It's called the alpine perfect fit kit. It's like $250-300. If you want to google it and read up on the wiring kit.

The camera does retain guides and there are some extra ones that alpine has. You can remove them if you want. I think they are orange cone. I kept it factory green yellow the red bars.

The only hook up you have to do. Connection of wires you have to make is the reverse camera. It's the above plus with yellow rca video plug. The connection happens behind you head unit with factory harness. There should be a few threads about it and how to run Bluetooth mic.
