Definitely add a fuse...Be sure you get one rated at LEAST 15A...a lot of the taps and adds only go to 10A because of the wire gauge..this is your best bet...

I just installed mine and it sounds great, but I'm not able to confirm the bridge function is working. When I flip between 2 and 4 channel mode it sounds exactly the same. Anyone confirm it actually works?

Hmmm I think your best bet would be to use a voltmeter?

Edited to add: the below is the process to bridge a 2 channel to a single channel; the 4 to 2 bridging will be different but the same principle.

You don't just flip a switch the speaker wires would be wired totally different between a 'bridged' configuration and a standard. You would use the positive from one set of outputs (front) and the negative from the others (rear). That may not be the way they recommend; it may be reversed so look in the manual. Once you have it wired the right way, the switch comes into play. The manual explains that or Google 'how to bridge amp.'

I have mine installed...Took some Pics...I'll post them. I have it bridged. It's definitely louder bridged. My speakers still want more power than this delivers but it's good enough for practical listening levels. To bridge it you put it on 2 CH and wire the left side as Front Left +(Solid White) and Left Rear - (Green w/ Black stripe) and the Right side Right Front - (Grey w/ Black Stripe) and Right Rear + (Violet).

After googling "how to bridge an amp" like the post above suggested, it shows FL+ and BL - and FR + and BR -. Seems like your right side is backwards?

So I just hooked it to match what I googled for bridging, and no sound from the right side. So I hooked it up the way you described and it works great. Thanks! I'm confused why they have the right side bridged in reverse??? The owners manual says nothing about bridge wiring, just to flip the switch.

I suppose if you wired it right to the battery you could use 2...But for $300 you'd be better off probably buying a 4 channel amp...

That was the origional plan but I already have an old 2 channel kenwood powering my sub and im trying to use as little real estate as possible. Hoping this little guy is enough at 45x4.. if it isnt id rather just toss another one in there for $150 then ditch the one i already baught and drop another $300 on a decent 4 channel..I actually called alpine a short while after i posted and at first he said no, but corrected himself as I have an after market head unit with 6 preamps

You do bring up a grest point about the power tho. If i do journey down that path il probably run them both to the battery with fuses.

So you don't want to go to a 5 channel then?

My speakers are already demanding more power from the amp...even bridged...I am thinking if I add an under seat sub I can use the pass filter to cut out some of the low bass that needs more power...

I am in the process of installing this power pack but I am confused on how many amps the headunit has. I am installing this with a Pioneer 8200nex which has a 10A fuse in the back. The Radio 1 fuse only has 10A in it. I have a non JBL unit and I didn't see a fuse in the radio 2 slot by the battery. Am I missing something? Is it a 15A circuit?

I know everyone says to just install with headunit power (which is what I want to do), but if I am going through the effort I want to make sure that I have the minimum 15A required as per the instructions.

I installed it right off the radio power wire. I have had no issues with it after a year other than the speakers I have want even more juice. I can turn it up to 25 (out of 35) with a lot of bass or 27 with bass at 6 out 0f 8 on my headunit and all is good. It's pretty loud for such a little pack. I mounted it up behind the glove box on the dash supports using zip ties. It did exactly want I wanted. Louder, clearer sound so I can listen to the radio and podcasts with the windows down all the way on the highway. With the factory head unit and the volume cranked you would struggle to make out talk. With this it's great with my after market polk speakers. Just be sure you properly connect the wires. Just make sure you connect the correct remote/blue wire to the radio. It's the one that tells the amp to turn on.

Oh and don't overlook the NIGHTMARE that is tacoma door vibrations with after market mids...
