And your source of data to support this claim is what? The anecdotal evidence presented here on TW, perhaps? Please, enlighten us.

Mine is 22 months old at this point, 25k miles and is leaking from the positive post. I was going to claim in on my next interval. Heated garage kept. Glad to hear that its not uncommon. I guess as long as I can get free warrantee replacements on it I will continue to do so.

I see a few posts about "leaking from the positive post". Is it REALLY leaking or do you have corrosion (which is normal) from electrolysis with a dirty post? It won't "leak" unless the case is damaged.:crapstorm:

Replacement time should be by region, not the battery's warranty period. Being in the "cold" region, I replace every 5 years before winter.

Although the battery is the most likely root cause, there is still a possibility that you have a bad alternator or a parasitic draw.

I typically start by fully recharging the battery. If that doesn’t solve the issue, I check the voltage when the engine is running. 14v is a good number. 11v is not. It takes about 5 minutes if you have a multimeter; most of that spent trying to find said multimeter. Checking for a parasitic drain is a bit more complicated.

FWIW, I just replaced my battery this winter. It was reading 12.3v after about an hour of sitting, engine was still turning over just fine.

OEM battery is sitting on the shelf in my garage, still good for things like operating my viair air compressor. I will use that battery for my diesel heater this fall.

Well, it doesn’t seem like you drive much based on year and mileage. Short trips without any time to recharge are the
Worst thing you can do for a battery. Take it once a week or every other week on a long drive. Also hot climates significantly shorten the lifespan of a battery

I try to make a habit of it weekly. The other reason is that short trips are not good for the engine.

I live in a small town and some of my jobs are 3-5 mins drive, so i purposely go for like a 10 min drive just so my engine gets to operating temps.

I told that to my sister (99% of her driving is short trips) and she looked at me a bit weird haha.

I did not read anything written by the OP saying a majority of his trips are short. I have a 2020 with 25k miles and rarely make short trips. I walk, bike, or take public/private transit instead. I think it’s probably normal mileage post-covid where many of us work from home.

I am also a bit skeptical that short trips are hard on the engine and the battery, albeit the battery issue seems more plausible. Does anyone have any evidence to support these theories?
