So I had the windows on my 05 double cab tinted Saturday in hopes to match the rear as close as I could get. I've been reading and they say the light meter says rear factory is 28%. They put 20% on the front and from the inside it's def darker than the rear which is what I def didn't want. My question is, will the 35% match closer than the 20%? Thanks guys for the input.

I always thought rears were 20% so that's what you used to match front...I need to know too because I'll be tinting the front in the spring!

I had mine done at 20% by a local guy and they match perfectly. you might want to wait a few days. Tint can lighten a bit after a few weeks.

I think the 35% will look signifcantly lighter and I imagine it won't match very well.

Mine are done at 35% (legal limit for me) and the match is great.

35% will be too light...You will always seem to be a different color...the Factory tint has a reddish/bronze tint to it, and the aftermarket is usually a blueish color...You will never get it to match exactly but 20% will be your best matching...Unless you black both front and rear with 5% but thats tuff to drive with at night.

My shop has black, charcoal gray and a few different shades to match different factory tints. Check around and see if you can find something similar.

i had black ceramic 35% done to the front windows on my 09 Access cab and they match the back very well.

I Can't say about a Double cab, but i would think that the interior color (grey vs beige) and the fact that there is more glass in a DC will effect the finished look.. ie bigger back windows = bigger area to detect a difference in the front-back tint %??

When I had 25% done on the front they were darker then the rears. I would have to say try 35%. I ended up leaving the 25% on the fronts and just tinted the rears a little. Looks great.

Well I dropped my truck off this morning to get the 20% stripped and they are gonna throw 35% on the front. Thanks for the input guys, I'll post some pics this afternoon and let you know how it goes.

I dropped mine off to have 5% put over the factory tint on the rear windows and 35% on the fronts. The extremely dark tint on the rear windows will make the front look darker also because it will block most of the light and make it harder to see in, yet it will still be street legal. I'll take pics when I pick it up in a few hours.

I've gone 20% on two cars to match factory tint and it has come out perfect both times. The front windows will look different at times due to the light coming in from the windshield. Sometimes they will look lighter. I would have let the 20% sit on there for a week.

Yeah I had my Truck done with 18% and it looks perfect with the back windows. During the day it matches up and at night it all looks like 10%. In my opinion, 35% is way too light, you will be happy with 20%!

I'm getting mine done within the next 2 weeks as well. I was gonna go with 20% thinking that would match. I've always ran 35% and want a little darker but obviously don't want the fronts darker. Guess I'll just tell them to try and match it.
