I think I already know the answer to this question but wanted some non-sarcastic insight. My air intake takes in air right above the right side front passenger wheel as most yotas do, my question is if I was to basically move it to the grill area therefore getting cleaner and more air how bad would it throw off my mass air sensor? I’m guessing having too much air forced in rather than sucked would cause issues but just wondering. Also any tips to getting more air to my condenser and radiator? Thinking about cutting out certain areas of the factory grill to get more air coverage, I think I could do it without it looking like crap or maybe just ordering a more open grill

Also have any Of you installed an auxiliary fan to help cool the engine? I think it would really come in handy during summers in Alabama sitting in traffic but I don’t want to drain my battery or it not have any effect.

Just out of curiosity what are you hoping to gain by doing this?

The URD cold air intake puts the intake right behind the grill, should just get one of those.

Yes having the maf near the grille can disturb the readings. This is more of a problem with the URD intake on 6spd trucks.

I have a 6spd with the urd intake and if i push in the clutch at 70mph and dont shift into a gear, the truck will stumble and die. Its turbulence over the maf causing this

Factory air intakes are placed in areas to account for things like:

    - Bugs. People who live in Florida know how bad this can be.
    - Rain/water
    - Sand/dust

As far as getting more flow to your cooling fins - Cut away as you please, but be mindful of bugs and rocks. The big semi trucks with huge grills actually tend to over-cool so you'll see them run covers during the winter months -- something you should avoid having to do.

It would be a waste of time and would result in nothing.

My original 1980 Toyota Pick-up would sure have benefited from an auxiliary fan. The A/C worked GREAT without ever having to do anything to it, BUT when I stopped in traffic for 30 seconds or so, the A/C got awful warm coming out of the vents! I never installed one, but sure considered it.

Changed my air filter again this evening - half chewed thru by a pack rat. What makes this truck such a vermin attractor? They never touched my Ford or Dodge either one. I guess I'll have to screen it over just like the cabin air duct.

I had a nest of red squirrels with newborns on top of my CAF. Once i removed them, I covered the intake with some 1/2" wire screen. Did the intake snorkel at the same time as I had found acorns in there as well.
