Yes, but how do the wires pass through the plastic box? I think if that plastic piece slips out, you can put that ring fitting and let it exit with the rest of the wire loom for a clean installation.

I just re-watched the video more carefully and you can see at minute 3:05 the fuse cover has been trimmed to allow those wires to go through. I think if someone took their time to figure out how to remove that square plastic piece I showed earlier, that would be a much cleaner install keeping the fuse box cover intact.

It has been awhile since the last post, but that connector to the 12v post you are talking about has 2 small latching rings at the bottom of the connector. They are nigh impossible to get loose without breaking the rings loose...thats what I ended up doing. I dont think it was meant to be removed without being replaced. Anyway it is more than secure enough without those latches. You could always hot glue or silicone them back if you want.

There are easier ways... That don't involve cutting a fuse box or stacking onto a bolt.

On the driver's side fuse and relay under the hood, snip one of the zip ties at the factory wire ports. Push a cut wire end through the port until you can see and fish/grab it from the empty spaces that allow you to see under the fuse banks. Strip the end and crimp on a 14-16g insulated female spade plug. Heat shrink the connection if you desire. Press spade firmly onto any unused 30/50A fuse port (there are multiple). Add a new zip tie back to factory port to tighten it back up. Run other end of wire wherever you want it.

You now have a 12v constant hot any time the 12v battery is attached. Don't even have to turn the truck on (not servent to ACC).

If you need a nearby ground there are two factory ground points between the master brake cylinder and the firewall port. One on the sidewall and one on the "floor" just before the firewall.

When I did this I tucked my grille light fuse and its relay into the empty space of the fuse box as well so that it's all protected with my only cutting in the entire process being that of snipping open the aux wire nipple on the firewall port.

I have a post with the pictures and steps in detail on Tacoma4G.

Here you go: All those unused spades are 12v constant hot when I tested mine.
it's come in handy once or twice that I can push the button to turn that light on without having to start up the truck :)

Ah I see. I have the prem version with the 3 Aux switches prewired so I am all set there. Now I am trying to decide if I want to bypass that and put in an Auxbeam.

You can use it for any purpose you want. My purpose was a light bar. 12v supply is 12v supply.
