Now, I love old VW's...we have owned several, bugs, squarebacks...last one was '73 Westfalia.

I do like those Syncros...but 80's- early 90's are probably the worst years for VW's.

Angry might be a wee stretch. I've been chuckling to myself on every post I've made. I've also mentioned that though I'm happy with gen3, I still might be getting a 90's toyota pickup and a lexus instead instead (either ES or RC F).

Yeah totally different. Tacoma is not the highest resale vehicle in the world. Oh wait, it is. What a mong. Try harder troll. And I just mentioned two big things I carry in the bed frequently.

The reason for the truck is the four-wheel-drive and to carry firefighting equipment which takes up the entire back of my 2010 4Runner before I sold it.

ahhh...sorry must lost in translation on the intergooglemachine.

yeah, I dunno...be real hard to leave Toyota...easiest thing would be to ditch the four wheel camper idea, and go with something lighter and more off-road oriented...so i can stay with a Tacoma, as I think the FWC is too much for the Tacoma.

I have been looking at these things too.

One of the worst decisions I ever made was selling the '67 Westfalia for $1750 back in 1990.

Lexus IS or GS, don't bother with the Camry derived ES. ES is entry level, go bigtime or don't bother. Lexus ES is FWD, Camry derived.

IS or GS is the performance coupes and sedans. RWD and the best engines

I agree either get the RC F, IS, or GS Don't bother with the ES it's pretty much a Camry with leather.

Not IS 250. Took for test drive and seemed a bit gutless

No propane in that. No furnace. Even in south Arizona on January 30th it's 18-20 degrees F out in the desert. That's gonna be a cooooooold mf'r. Suitable for some folks, we're wussies, like a propane furnace in the trailer.

Yeah forgot about the gutless IS250 engine. I can't wait to test drive the new 2.0 Turbo motor it's getting as a replacement

I haven't really spent any time researching this plan. I just thought it'd get all the offroad, dirt biking, and camping I need with the 90's toyota pickup and then commute with something genuinely nice. good advice though, I'll check it out.

What is weird I was all excited when I bought a 2000 GS300 and I only had it over 120mph twice. 145mph speed limiter and there was no chance I would get that. It sure sounded nice foot to the firewall accelerating and handled great in the mountains.

I have portable propane and electric heaters (run the electric off a Honda generator, I don't fully trust propane in a camper)...figured I would close the top to contain the heat if it got too cold. I tent camp in the snow...so...that thing would be like a luxury. Though the better half is freezing if it goes below 80º. ;) :D

No sarcasm. I sold my 2012 Tacoma to get it, and the Ram was in the shop like 70 days in the first year (purchased July '14). It's sweet when it doesn't suck, and an added sense of excitement when I go out camping in the middle of no where with an unreliable vehicle... :|
