Was revving my truck ever since i put in an exhaust last week. Tonight pushed her hard and saw my battery light, abs, and parking light come on. Made it to a friends house but now it won’t start now without a jump. abs and brake light doesn’t come on anymore. Thinking it’s alternator after testing battery with multimeter. Truck is an 06 but only has 80000 miles on it, anyone else have experience with alternator going bad this early?

Most average batteries last about 3 years (especially in hot climates). If charge light NOT ON probably the battery.
Easy check is all auto parts stores will check your battery and alternator free.
A true battery voltage test is after it is recharged and 12.6 or higher is good. Each cell that shorts out drops the voltage 2.1v so if battery is 10.5 range you lost a cell. When you start the truck the 12.6 will increase if a good alternator up into mid 14 range using your meter.
Check all terminals to ensure clean, same with alternator feed and body ground.

If the alternator is bad, Carid online has the Denso rebuilt 130A for towing (same as dealer) for $117 plus about $10 shipping and free core return ship as I just ordered one.

My alternator went bad around 85-90,000 miles. Have alternator and battery tested.

Does the truck stay running once jump started?

It’s around 10.5 range and stays there
Yeah it stays running. Surprised I made it back to my friends house after lights came on on the highway

Likely the battery but first and foremost, clean and tightened the battery terminals.

Hmmm, got a link to it? All I see is a 100 amp Denso rebuild.

The battery has a dead cell and needs replacement.

edit: Did you put the meter on the truck while it was running? It's kind of odd a battery cell would die from revving the engine - unless the alternator is putting out too much voltage and needs replacement too.

Carid Denso link (select 4.0 engine, with Denso alternator, then towing in submodel dropdowns to get 130A):
    https://www.carid.com/denso/alternator.html

My primary selection was a 2009 Tacoma.
W/O (without) tow only gets you a 100A for $104.
2.7L only gets you an 80A for $158.

Yes it stayed at 10.5 when running. I’m running two amps so maybe it just killed my alternator faster?

    Bit of a warning here,
the 2.7L and 4.0L Alternator's are not interchangeable.

the 2.7's is some auto dampening one.

Oh that's not good. You have a bad battery and a bad alternator. You mentioned it occurred when you were revving the engine so my best "I'm not at your location" guess is that the alternator went out and smoked one of the batteries cell's by the alternator putting out too much voltage and causing the battery damage. Check the alternator fuse under the hood before replacing anything.

Yeah i’ll check that and also take the truck down to oreillys to have them test both as well before buying anything. ill probably have to buy the alternator from them for $160 though because i need the truck running again asap
