My alternator is not charging my battery after some deep water.

Is the alternator different from a manual to an auto trans?

Will it matter if I have the tow package?

The towing package does have a bigger alternator than non towing pkg trucks

Check your fuses first, 140 Amp and 7.5 Amp, ALT and ALT-S fuses in the fuse box behind the battery.

I checked the fuse they were all good.
Will the auto and manual for sure interchange?
The parts stores are telling me they wont.
The manual is a 90 amp alt and the auto w/o tow package is 100 amp and the one with tow package is 130 amp.

The 90 amp has to be special ordered but they have the other 2 in stock.

The truck is a 6 speed 4.0 without tow package

First I have heard of it if so. I dont see where the harm would be just getting the tow package alternator. I will let people with more knowledge chime in, as I only knew of two different alternators.

I would get the highest amp and long as all the plug is the same on the switching board. It's nit like it will overcharge your battery, it has built in protection against that.

Is the wiring large enough to handle extra amps?

Just stirring the pot... I don't know anything about it :notsure:

I'm not to concerned with fitting a higher amp alt just if the auto trans alt will fit on a manual tacoma .

If you give the auto parts place the opportunity to compare the difference between apples and oranges, they may charge you a core charge for turning in a lower amp alternator.

If you just buy a tow package alternator and return a non tow package alternator, they're just going to look in the box and go, "yep, that's an alternator".

She's snowing out and I don't really want to pull this thing out at this moment

Well I ordered the one specified for the manual 205 plus tax and it's coming from bc.
I didn't want to chance it as this is my work vehicle and it can't be down. !

Call toyota dealer and ask parts if there is a different one. It seems weird the auto/manual would be different but its possible theres a extra wire having to do with the clutch
