I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere....
    I'm just not finding it.

As popular as the 3rd Gen Tacoma is, I would think they make a Fleet / Duty version for municipalities.
I would also assume that that version gets a higher amperage alternator. Maybe something with 20 to 30 more amps. I know you can upgrade the charging system to get more amps out of the alternator you have directed to the BMS for charging. But what about power hungry accessories?

I see 80 Amp "stock" alternators for sale. And I see 240 Amp alternators for sale.
    Can that be right?

Does Toyota manufacture a genuine Alternator Replacement that has a higher amperage? I'm guessing that with all of the accessories people stick on these trucks, a bigger alternator would be a common upgrade. Just not seeing a lot of that in the threads and forums. What's the story?

I'm still waiting on Premier Power Welder to offer something for the 3rd gen. I have a feeling they are having issues getting past some of the ECU features that Toyota deems necessary to block using a higher amp alternator.

Is there a reason you think a stock alternator isnt big enough ?

Good Question. No not really. I'm not even sure what the stock alternator puts out? It might totally be enough. Looking like 130 Amps if Rock Auto is accurate?

Every vehicle I have owned previously has had pages of forum space dedicated to upgrading the "weak low amp stock alternator" to something a little higher power to support lights, winches, dual battery set ups, dometic fridges, air-pumps, two way radios, stereo tv entertainment systems, trailers, etc. Was surprised when I didn't see that here.
