OEM if you can get one, parts store remans typically only last a few years.

Please stay OEM, you will regret going after market. Look on www.rockauto.com

get the correct one, if you have the tow package, you need 130 amp I believe

That looks pretty cool, but one thing always in the back of my head. If that alternator stops working in craps out, it’ll take you almost a week to get a replacement where OEM they could have it for you the next day, if it at all ever failed.

You're right but if it does crap out just grab a replacement at a parts store if you need it quick. Somewhere on here there is a thread discussing this alternator and the company. Everyone seemed to have good things to say about them. Also has a 1 year warranty.

If it was available back then as a direct fit, while you have it apart I would upgrade to the (OEM/new) Denso Tow Package 130-amp High-Output alternator.

And is why I carry a spare OEM when on the trails or overlanding.

I can vouch for bnr. My 200-amp bnr alt is going on six years and 70K. Also got a 160-amp alt for my daughter’s Corolla. Both are working as expected. Good thing is they don't require a core. I kept the oem alts as backups after replacing the brushes. I did upgrade the wiring even though neither car has high-draw devices or audio.

I personally would stick with the oem or get denso from a reputable source. Ive found that if you get on sites and find denso parts, its cheaper than direct from toyota. I know toyota is super strict on oem parts, they will get someone else to make their oem parts if they are not happy with their supplier. So, thats saying denso is really good.

I use a local electrical shop to rebuild mine.

If you have a good one in your town I recommend you do the same.
