Alu cab 3rd brake light issues.

Hello,

I have an alucab contour canopy. I have wired in my interior canopy lights and they operate normally. However, my 3rd brake light is on until I push on my brake pedal. The 3rd brake light on the canopy goes out when the brake is pushed.

I tapped into the blue wire and the green wire on my passenger side. (Tapped into the middle light bulb as it is the brake light portion.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Should I have tapped the blue wire and the black and white wire?

I looked at the aftermarket harnesses and they show the blue wire and black and white wire being used.

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I will be attempting to connect it to the black and white wire after work to see if that fixes it. Just thought I would ask. Maybe I am way of base.

I have had it for about 4 months.

I did the install.

I had a brake light bulb burn out and replaced it. I thought that may correct the new issue of brake light not working when foot is on the brake pedal. But it didn't work.

My oem tacoma brake lights work fine, and all other functions work fine. It is just the 3rd brake light that is illuminated when brake is not being used. Then when pressed it goes out.

Not sure if the answer is in the link you shared. It's 68 pages long.

Yes, you need to tap into the blue and black and white wire, shown not-connected-yet, in the photo below. This is drivers side, and I have the aftermarket harness, but you get the idea.

The Alu-Cab 3rd brake light only illuminates when the pedal is pressed, when installed correctly. It is never on otherwise.

 

Thank you! I just ran out and got it set to the black and white. Everything is running great!
