Thanks for the input! Sound advice. I’m only 5’10”. I’d prefer not to loose TOO many mpg’s. My thinking with the 26-32 was yes more headroom but also more storage. I could potentially make my bed frame sit higher for more storage underneath…

I’d also like to add a second question:

what advantages are there to full doors opposed to a lift hatch & tailgate.

I thought I would miss my tailgate, but I haven't. Having the full door acts as a mini awning as well.

I camped out of a Jeep Comanche for years and it’s a pain to pull the tailgate up and canopy’s door down , the double doors also block the wind.

For me, reaching over the tailgate isn't great for my back. You can also mount stuff to the doors as well if you are camping.

Love this set up, I have a tiny square drop trailer, this would make a great living room, bike hauler!! Nice job putting it together. Is that a ARE rack or custom?

Did you paint it, or did they?
How tall is it? The shape will match my trailer very well. It would make a nice addition.

Loos great, thanks for the info! I am selling my rack and will try and put in order in for one, unless a cap with some height comes up local on CL. I really like the barn doors, I have some lower back issues and reaching in for the bikes can ruin my day.

    @Ayoung208 and @Josh41

I can probably add a little insight as well. @Canadian Joe was a huge resource when I ordered mine.

I went with the 26-32 wedge. It does sit above the cab, but it works perfectly with the Prinsu rack. The wedge is also the perfect size to add a solar panel.

My wife and I are both 5’10” and with a 4” mattress there is just enough headroom at the 32” section.

I added my own windows and my own marine hatch in the roof. Did my own insulation and carpet as well.

Big advantage to the full doors is they are much easier to close, and I had a custom rear bumper built that allows us to still open one side without swinging the spare tire open.

We just returned from a 24 day, 5000mile road trip and spent 21 days sleeping in the back with zero issues.

I’m also quite heavy with the bumpers, winch, skids and sliders. Usually right at or slightly above GVRW when I’ve run across scales.

We try to avoid freeways and interstates as much as possible. If I keep the speeds around 60-65 I was averaging around 17.5 MPG, start pushing the speed above 70 and it will drop to around 16ish

This looks great, did you do anything to strengthen the roof to have someone walking on it. I am hoping to avoid the stock rack that they offer and put a Yakima up there for a canoe.

I ordered mine with added plates in the roof for mounting a rack. The footprint of the roof isn’t huge and it’s quite solid from the factory.

You can see the plates circled in red.

I did add a couple braces for mounting the hatch, but I was walking on the roof before that with no issue.

Buy jugs of it from Walmart.

We run a 24L Dometic behind the driver seat. Holds enough food and water for 3-4 days for two of us.
