Relentless told me they aren't making aluminum front bumpers right now, and while I'd love to get a Relentless bumper, I've got my heart set on aluminum since I mostly want to get the bumper so I can have a winch and not hurt the MPG too much. Also I assume an aluminum bumper would be safer in the event of an accident. Is there any other way to get a winch on the truck? Does anyone make an aluminum front bumper for the 2000 Tacoma?

Safer than what? And how is it mounted?

It can be safer under a certain impact level, at least in reduction of overall damage.

Above a certain impact level, it can cause more damage.

For this, I'm assuming it's rigidly mounted to the frame or frame horns, and any factory impact/crush/crumple stuff has had to be removed for the install.

Since I've never installed one, I certainly could be wrong. Someone will happily point that out for us if I am.

I do believe he is refering to a steel bumper vs aluminum bumper in an accident

My assumption is that aluminum is safer than the stock bumper since it should be sturdier than the stock bumper. I also like the idea that it wouldn't destroy another car as badly as a steel bumper. The aluminum might be safer than steel too since it would crumple more, slowing the impact.

Mainly I just want to know how I can buy one.

    Draw up what you want.

By this I mean all the dimensions all the holes with diameters the type of material to be used .

    Bare Aluminum or Anodized etc

Any mistakes or fitment issues are yours !!

    Make many copies

Go to your local Fab Shops give them the print .

One never knows they might look and say No we don`t do this type of work.

They might take a glance and quote a price .Way more then you would ever think!!

Aluminum corrodes if your any place where they use winter chemicals

Keeping after your frame is easy compared to keeping after a aluminum bumper.

An alternative option would be to get a reciever winch? Have to mount a front reciever though of course. Then u could run it front or rear...
