Progress is a little slower than I was anticipating, I wanted to get the roof mounted today but I took my time mounting the panels.
Rivet aluminum sheeting to the main structure.

Routed out for the windows and started cutting trim pieces to size.

This thread reminds me I was supposed to take some metalworking/welding classes a few years ago and didn't. Inspiration!

Main hinge on roof mounted, next will be the gas struts

Hopefully I can apply the roof membrane in the next day or so and eventually start prepping for paint.

Are you doing a canvas or rip-stop nylon tent material? Snap pins, turn pins, zippers or Velcro?

By the way I like your build. :headbang:

What do you think your final cost will be for sheet metal/square tubing? Ive been thinking about doing something like this for a long time, since flippacs are really rare in Canada. Would be nice to have an idea of what I would be spending. How are you doing all your welds? TIG?

Using heavy duty 18oz polyester vinyl. Velcored with button snaps. I don't want this to be a tent like the others that lets air through and flopping around in the wind. There will velcored windows just like 4Wheel Campers.

I'm at about $1100 in aluminum cost. MIG Spoolmate for all the welding.

Thats extremely reasonable all-in-all considering used flippacs are upwards of $4000-5000 used.

Any plans to have access from the inside of the bed like the flippac/habitat campers? or will this be outside access only

I like everything about this statement.

Will you be using a matrix or other ventilation device below the sleeping cushions to prevent mold/mildew? https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=1818021

    Very Nice!

I'm thinking of building something for my truck but I'm going to get rid of the bed altogether and building flat bed camper.
