I did a 22re champion radiator, and to go along, the popular Ford taurus fan swap. Mine was for another reasons however. To accommodate the engine cage.IMG_20190416_184410.jpg

Will stick down below the frame rail it has a 22-1/2” core. My Champion C1778 has an 18.75” high core.

I’m very skeptical of this. Stainless steel shouldn’t have any issues with mild chemicals. If anything is reacting it’s going to be some sort of adhesive in their “all aluminum radiators” and to add to that the picture with the coolant filter just looks like rust from the block.

EDIT: dude mixed coolant. Just google green/red mix to see what it looks like. Champion probably know this but isn’t being truthful. Just from a bit of googling no other manufacturer that makes aluminum radiators has an issue with Toyota coolant.

Do you know how the height of the top of the radiator cap and tank, to the core support? I hear that there could be hood clearance issues for 95-2000 models
    Thanks

    The Bed is stock...ish

I was using a 3rd gen 4runner radiator in my 99 Tacoma for a while till I hit a deer. The top front edge of the radiator did contact the hood all the way across the front edge.

I bet that wasn’t very pretty....
Is that a stock or aftermarket radiator?

After all these years of using the champion or koyo all-aluminum radiators, does anyone have anything they can add or update on?

    1. Has anyone experienced clogging, corrosion, or leaks due to using red/pink/orange fluids? (Or was that truly BS?)

    2. There's a lot of confusion on my end from reading this thread, all these measurements that some of you have taken from your radiator and it's different than the one that champion sells for your vehicle?

    3. The only radiator that champion sells for tacomas is for a 2wd only? But it also mentions that it fits a prerunner? Is that another difference between prerunner and 4wd? I was under the impression that the prerunner was exactly like a 4wd, minus the 4wd... So with that theory it should be the same radiator...

    I bought CC1998…fit like a glove
3 years now…no leaks because I used the green stuff like the box recommended

Yes, that's why I'm asking. I'm curious to see how many of y'all still have the champion or the koyo, how long you've had it, what coolant you used, how you use your truck (trail, crawling, mudding, racing, sits in a garage, etc.

Most of the leaks are from structural failures. IDK if red coolant is corrosive enough to corrode any material enough to the point of it failing under the terms most guys have witnessed. It's a cheap aluminum radiator. You want more strength go custom or keep those fingers crossed.

I can't remember what thread I read, but one guy said he doesn't offroad, just drives it around town. He had red or orange coolant for our trucks, 30K miles later it's leaking. Just like allota others around 30K, but most of them comment that they flex their frame
