    Hi All.

Has anyone changed one of the outlets in the cabin to an always on outlet and keep something connected all the time?
Does it work ok with the battery?
Need to add a WiFi hotspot and wondering if it would run my battery down.

    TIA.

Yes it will eventually run your battery down, how quickly will depend on the quality of the DC/DC converter in the charger, and how much draw your hotspot has.
Most DC/DC converters in USB adapters are cheap and will put excess draw on the battery even if nothing is connected, so if you go that route you should put a manual off switch so you can turn it off if leaving truck for extended period or time. I don’t know of any that will turn off if the battery gets close to being below starting voltage, but that’s what I’d look for.

    Thanks for the reply.
The truck is my daily driver. So it only sits overnight. And I think I found the answer to my question.
The dash cam comes with a thing called power magic pro. It keeps an eye on the battery and if it drops below the limit that I set. It will stop pulling from the battery. I just found out that is ok to split that connection. So I can have the power magic pro handle the dash cam and the hotspot.. and if the battery goes below the limit. It will shut off.
I only drive the truck about 20 miles a day.. so hopefully it will be enough to keep the trucks battery in good health.
I’ll report back once is set up and used for a few days.. in case some one else is looking for something like this one day.

    Thanks again.

Using the dash cam power seems like the perfect solution since it can shutdown on set voltage.
