I'm glad I did. I took my Taco in for first service. Owners manual indicates tire rotation front to back. The twinky dealership did a cross. I'm glad I marked my tires. I called them on it and they said they always do it that way. I showed them the owners manual and had them re-do the rotation. Additionally, they over inflated the tires and the pressures were not consistent. Now I'm waiting for a survey from them

Well, I don't think what they did was bad for your truck or tires regardless of what the manual says. I think all you really accomplished was pissing off the people who are going to be working on your truck from here on out.

Does one need to read the manual to know how to rotate tires though?

I mean there is a lot of good info though but I don't think I need to read it to know where my gas cap is

Glad they fixed it for you though.

I learned from a trusted service advisor at my dealership that THEY get financially penalized for an unsatisfactory survey and the actual tech who did the work gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if that. I'd have a conversation with the service manager first.

Perhaps. Better still though, maybe that tech will take extra care the next time around. All depends on how it's handled - if OP goes full-blown Karen on the service department it won't help for future service. If it was handled calmly then perhaps the tech will have learned something.

Stick around here long enough & you’ll realize that most people can’t read at all, much less the owners manual... Also, in my opinion, complaining about the order in which your tires were rotated is a bit rash. At least they rotated them.

The dealership I bought my truck from is pretty cool. When I had my 10K service done I asked the service girl about deleting the seat belt chime...she said no way.

I waited outside under a gazebo thing they have, when the service dude drove my truck out, I told him I wished I could get rid of the chime. He said sit back down, I'll be right back.

Drove my truck back in and no more chime

Did you also bring a torque wrench to check that each lug is tightened to whatever the manual happens to say.
Also make sure the skid plate was correctly torqued too after the oil change.

The only time any of my vehicles are at a dealership are the day I buy the vehicle and if I ever have warranty work.

Also one mistake is an accident so don't be an ass just politely inform them but if they do it again then you get to be an ass.

Why? It doesn't actually matter. As long as the fronts go to the back and visa versa you're good AND YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR. modern tires don't need straight front to back swap like old tires in the 50's did. x swap doesn't serve any purpose but doesn't hurt anything so what's the problem? stop overthinking, especially when you don't know what you're talking about. btw I don't rotate my tires...honestly no need to...the rears wear faster as they are the drive wheels...that's the only reason to rotate modern tires...but I'd rather buy two tires at a time than 4...just did actually (bought two). I get enough miles a year that my front tires won't rot or expire before they need to be replaced.

That’ll teach those rotten bastards to cross rotate your tires!

Good of you to read the manual and act on its recommendation. It is best practice to follow the owner manual. I’ve always rotated my tires back to front and vice versa, never did like to cross even though some manufacturers still recommend it. Then the directional rotation tires came out and they have to be rotated front to rear and vice versa or else.

That said I don’t think there’s anything really grievous in what they did, it just maybe an old habit on their part so no harm done in this case.

With regular rotation and proper tire inflation, you maybe able to get 60-70k miles out of any tire, as opposed to 20k and your front tires are done, as is the case on some high performance vehicles like the corvette and some Lexus models where the front are a different size than the rear therefore no rotation.
