ok so I just bought my first toy... ive off roaded in a lot of them and have always been inpressed... so I bought one and love it a lot, however the sound quality just sucked to be nice... I was really turned off at the shabby so-called speakers in the doors.. I have replaced them with high quality speakers, and have gotten a real nice sound from them but no volume?? at max it is nothing like I would like. I understand the factory head unit is not so good but would like to keep the factory look, so I purchased an amp (250) watt kenwood and plan to install it this week... along with a sub woofer for the back of my 07 dblcb.... will this be ok, or am I wasting my time????? plz advise

Depends on how many channels the amp is and how many speakers you want to hook up.

250 watts will not be loud, but it really depends what you aare looking ot hear. I use this amp because it does 5 channel out and boost max watts of 1200. With this set up, I can easily hear the music going 70 with the windows down (I could not do that with the stock premium system).

Also, if you are using the factory deck, you will likely need a line out converter like the LC6i. In the end, most aftermarket decks are way better than the stock one, but I understand the interest in keeping it looking stock.

    Below is my system upgrades:

wow is all I can say....I might just wait to do mine better than planned,, as a turbo/s-charger is my first app.. but dang bro,, I liked the install and the pics.. gonna install my little amp for now and hope for the best,,, research, then go with a system like urs.. if I still cant achieve my desired sound, then I will go with a diff head unit.. thanks again to you and the other members who chimed in as well...

    Bone Stock, for now
Can you provide more info on the amp you plan to use?
250w of clean power is actually plenty to get a system good and loud with sound quality as well. That's rubbish you need a great big gnarly amp to get good tunes, it just depends on a lot of factors besides just outright power.
What speakers did you install, what sub do you plan on using and what amp?

well I will deff re-think my whole system at a later date, now that ive seen those pics,, however for a quick install I had cerwin vegas in both front and rear doors,, great inprovment over stock,, the amp I bought is a kenwood (kac-529s) 250w.....im not a stereo guy so I have no idea what people mean when they say 1 channel or 5 channel.. I always just pay to have it done at a shop who charges a fortune.. this time I will pay a buddy to install who says he can.. just for now I just want better sound/volume. dosnt have to be top quality, just better...

Are the front speakers still 6x9 or did you replace the factory speakers with another size?
