    Long winded...My bad

So I'm on my fourth vehicle in a year and a half, I've had my '10 Tacoma since last September. The other three vehicles came and went quickly, mainly because they just "weren't me" (and one was an '01 taco that I didn't have time or a space to fix prior to moving across country). I didn't feel like myself driving them. Up until two weeks ago I've been for the most part happy with my Access Cab Tacoma (it's a base model but I don't care about all the electronics, its more about functionality for me). Two weeks ago I had family come and visit and realized that my truck wasn't ideal for more than my gf(ring in the future), me and our large dog on trips. Most of the time its just the three of us, but once a week if not more were doing something with friends(taking my truck so the dog or dogs can be in the bed), and in the next couple years gonna have some kiddos coming along.

So I did some research because thats what I do, and found most DCLB are super expensive used just like the rest of Tacomas. But I found one for sale thats got 104k on the clock in decent shape from the pictures asking $22k. Its a TRD sport, and has a lift. I asked the lady if it was a block lift or suspension.. she didn't have a clue but said she could read "Total Chaos" on the shocks... There are other minor mods that have caught my eyes as well.

    What are your thoughts?
Am I out of my gord for even thinking about another vehicle?

It's your finances! My DC is good for my fiance and our dog, but she's about 60 lbs and will eventually end up riding in the bed when I finally get a shell.

If I was looking at a used truck I wouldn't buy one that's modified but that's just me. With all your recent vehicles, whatever you end up doing I'd make sure whatever I went to next would be a long haul vehicle that I was keeping for 5+ years.

Probably are out of your mind. But, you could get the DCLB and be done with it all. If you decide to change after that then well, if the shoe fits.

Are you in the hole financially after the last 4 years of car trading?

You really shouldn't talk about your fiance like that and I hardly believe anyone could weigh 60 lbs.

No I don't think you are out of your gord, just searching in the wrong place for what you are lacking.

There is not a significant more amount of space in a DC .vs AC Op, despite what some here will claim. I have a 3 year old and 5 year old, and with car seats back there, the space is crammed still.

Put it this way, I had an '11 F-150 SuperCab (Extended Cab) and despite being just an extra cab, it had way more space than my '14 DC Tacoma. The SuperCab F-150 that I had, which was a 2013 was almost limo like in rear space.

While I find Toyota superior to Ford in quality, re-sale, and attention to detail. Dare I say at the rate you burn through vehicles (Almost as much as I, 17 vehicles in 10 years) You should just go straight to a full sized "Quad Cab" type configuration.

Our '14 DC is extremely useful, and I'm glad we have it. With kids I absolutely couldn't use an AC cab, even though one of my best friends totes his two kiddos and wife around in one. But I think nothing beats the accommodations of a full sized crew cab.

I looked at a 2008 Jeep modified 4x4. $17K asking, so we were obviously miles apart (should have been ~$14K, but I wanted to drive it down to $12.5). Another $14K got me a brand new 2014 DCSB 4x4 TRD.

It had some trans issues, that were probably associated with the lift.

Always beware of modded vehicles. Lots of people do it right. Lot's of other folks do it with chicken wire and duct tape.

How are you gonna have 4 tacomas and realize they "aren't you" and say you extensively research your vehicles...

    I'm glad you agree!

As for OP and what others are saying, research can't really give you an expectation of how to feel in the vehicle, (trying to back you up here OP) but a test drive does just that. Did you test drive the vehicles you bought? If so, how long? Also beware, if you have done your research and really like a vehicle before test driving, you may be oblivious to things you would normally dislike about driving it.

Test drive your next vehicle for at least 20 minutes, I say.
