    I see this claimed on occasion, however there’s zero evidence that the latch was “designed” to use to secure the gas cap tether. The latch is designed to secure the gas door. Sure the latch can be used to secure the tether but that doesn’t prove it was “designed” for that use. Owners manual doesn’t say “hey use this door latch as a handy way to secure your gas cap via the tether. we designed it for dual use!” lol :D
