Honestly I replace mine with the TRQ assembled bearings and they've been fine. I ordered 2 last time so I can have a spare around but they were 180 for the pair. The one I replaced has been on for 25k, and was replacing the OEM assembly with a replacement bearing I did about 40k before that.

Wheel bearings shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes per side, so I would start there. If problems persist I'd come back here and post again. With the difference in price between DIY and having a shop do it, you can buy a whole lot of tools.

Unless you have major rust to deal with, do it yourself. Quite easy to do if you buy the pre-assembled WB. I swap both of mine out in about 3 hrs. Just need a 3 ton floor jack, 200 ft/lb torque wrench, BFH and basic hand tools but a big plus if you have an impact. You can invest in the tools and still be cheaper than paying for a shop. Lastly, Don't go cheap with WBs which is likely with some shops. I bought mine from an ex-TW member a few yrs ago until his customer service went down the toilet later down the road but very high quality stuff. Current TW member
@05Taco4x4 is worth checking out his products.

I think 15 minutes a side is a bit underestimating the time required. @Wattapunk seems more spot on.

Lol, 30mins per side and squeezing in a beer is what it took me to just remove those rear bolts and hammering with the bfg to get the old ones off.
Forgot to mention that you can rent the axle nut socket from autozone.

I did mine, it was easy. I got the hub assembly with Koyo bearing from the member here. A slide hammer helped to get the old hub assembly off. Would have been a 20 minute job per side but I forgot to put on the dust shield for the brakes, then I put it on backwards so the caliper wouldn’t go back on, lol. The second side went super fast having already made all the possible mistakes doing the first side.

Total cost for both sides with quality Japanese bearings was $320

This was one of the first things I did to my truck by myself I saved a ton of money by not having somebody else do it and I learned a ton. My only regret is not buying oem quality parts oh well

Heres a video i made of replacing the wheel bearing as a whole hub assembly on a 2wd. It comes assembled ready to go with the hub, bearing, seals, and mounting bolts.

Same process also applies for 4x4 tacomas, only difference is you have to remove the axle nut in the center. Hope this helps. FixItPhillip

Thank you very much FixitPhillip... you really made it look easy with a very nice instructional video... the most I did in my 2011 Tacoma with 80K mileage was Oil/Oil filter change and lately changing both headlight assemblies.... your style is exactly my hometown mechanic's style, direct to the point, some may comment about that mechanical dust blowing and no safety glasses but that's how I grew up in our hometown..the important thing is it got the job done.... and at 3:00 sounds like a hatch roundhead and a pure roundhead crowing in the background...that was nice accompanying music while working.....

Ten weeks later and no update from the OP??

Had my LF wheel bearing replaced by a local shop last month. I was not in a position to do it myself. Bearing (NAPA) was $168 and 3.1 hours labor @ $90/hr.
