people on here seem do desperate to take the offer. Why leave money on the table?

or at least split the difference to $35,750

and besides, OP says he has 9 weeks so it’s not like time is an issue

No one is talking about neg equity, quit trying to make assumptions to fit your narrative, you're wrong, period, as evidenced by your generalizing and lack of current knowledge of a thread you keeping trying to talk about. Times have changed, prices are up.

I would take it and run, however, pricing hasn’t surged quite so dramatically here in Central Texas as it has in other areas. The San Antonio Tacoma factory has been open since May 11th, not sure about Baja, but the 2020 stock is being replaced in this region anyway.

I agree, milk him to 36K

As a sidenote, I bought my 17 OR new for 31K...this thread is making me wonder if I could actually make money off of it?

    Times have changed? Really? Wow!
    Prices are up? No kidding?
It is also getting warmer now that Summer is here!
    All very interesting but still:

Like I said: You can STILL buy under MSRP and for a few grand more the buyer can get a new Taco.

No offense (seriously) bit it is hard for me to continue this debate.

I have a hunch you aren't into logic or truth tables which makes communication difficult on my part.
    Enjoy your evening...

Dude, I paid $25.5K almost two years ago for the Taco in my sig....Thinking of putting it on CL for $25k and seeing what happens. There is a sweet Calvary Blue Limited Tundra at the local dealer.....my brain is working.....

I’m happy with what I got, when I got it. Right now money talks and BS walks when demand is up and supply is short. Even the financing has changed from 0 percent to 1.99.

Which exactly is what I was saying before you made your comment about how you can get a new one for "a few grand more", which you then cherry picked one post of one $5k more new, not "a few grand more" ($40k-35k is not a few), which was also a clear outlier of the situation for most currently in which dealers are either commanding MSRP or don't have any instock, which I showed you multiple posts of. But ya I'm the one that doesn't get it? Now back to the original point you tried to make which was OP's asking price of $35k being ridiculous and, which it is not, given the current state of the market which you originally alluded to as a scam and someone could do better new, which I clearly proved wrong which you continue to adjust to fit your narrative to try to continue to validate your incorrect statement. Hardly a debate, the fact that you think it was or that you are even remotely on the winning side clearly indicates as you put it "you arent into logic" "which makes communication difficult on my part." When you actually know what you are talking about feel free to chime back in, until then well...

    Your original post:

KBB, cars.com, etc. all showing this being the market's valuation and going rate for his truck, $35k, which you then tried to argue and as I pointed out a new premium/tech/TRD OR 4WD/AT does not go for “that much more” but actually quite a bit more, $5k, if you could even find a dealer willing to discount that much or a truck at this moment.

You then tried to say that all those prices were not what people were paying and no one was buying, which I also proved you wrong as evidenced by the thread you yourself tried to quote and the multiple instances I showed you of people a) not being able to locate a truck and b) paying MSRP or more:

And then you quickly tried to change your tune with your condescending little comment there that only reinforced my point, but still continued to insist on a “few grand more” which I continued to mention and showed in my quotes from the thread you mentioned yet again, most are not getting and not “a few grand” more for new and indeed paying MSRP or slightly less:

But ya I’m the one who doesn’t get it

Yesterday, Saturday July 11, I found another dealer that had the truck I wanted. They just so happened to exclude the specific trim, TRD Off Road, from the Costco deals. All other trims still got the discount.

They told me they would listen to any offer I would give them for the TRD Off Road.

I offered them 1,500 under invoice before rebate, since that's the deal I missed back in April/May.

They looked at me as if I was from another planet, and explained that is not going to happen at their dealer and probably not any other dealer in socal for the TRD Off Road 4x4 for a while. He also said these trucks are selling at MSRP no problem.

    The reasons they gave me:
Of course, due to low supply high demand yada yada.

I told them ok, call me if things change.

I'm sure they had a good laugh after I left.
Not that I care, happy I had a chance to make my offer.

Just sharing my recent experience, since I was quoted earlier.

I hope it helps with the topic of this thread.

After reading this thread LDrider its clear you are someone who thinks one thing and runs with it regardless of your actual knowledge on the subject. It's simple supply and demand which you should have "learnt" your freshman year of high school assuming you made it that far. You seem to be under the impression Tacomas are immune to such economics. Fact is fact and facts don't care what you THINK.
