yeah it’s factory purple i have the same color in a 97 metallic purple is the color match and what the inside of the door states super rare color very few still around that i’ve seen

 

Glad you resurrected this thread. I'm the third owner of my truck and I'm friends with the first two owners. During the second owners time with the truck, people started giving him crap that he owned a purple truck. In the right light, it really does look purple, and some of the paint under the hood looks especially purple.

It only started taking on that hue at 10+ years old. In this photo it looks like the original color, but in some types of light it looks pretty purple. I'm ok with it. When I notice women check it out I just tell myself they're looking at me.

 

My buddy has one of these, and almost 30 years later, it’s purple.

I remember that desert mica color for the third generation 4runners, which started to turn pink as the vehicles faded in the sun.

 

Got the same color on my 99 sr5, can't begin to tell you how many compliments I get on it. And yeah, factory color. rare, I think you needed to order it, doubt it ever came as a standard color from the factory.
