I just installed a plug-n-play remote starter and smart phone module for my new 2019 Tacoma TRD OR. All went well with the installation and it works great, but I thought that I had backlighting for my tach and speedo before installation that isn't there now.

I could have sworn that the tach and speedo were backlit in daytime without parking or headlights on and only dimmed slightly when those lights that used tail lights were selected. The center control panel between the two is lit.

Am I crazy, unobservant or is something wrong? 2019 owners, please give me some wisdom.

To adjust backlighting twist the trip meter knob left to dim or right to brighten.

2016-2019 owners will not have instrumentation illuminate without lights ON. Hopefully they change that next year.

What’s wrong with driving with your lights on?
