I forgot which side mine sticks out more on but from the multiple times this has been brought up, I've always read and was told by my dealer's manager that the axle is shifted to one side to help subside axle wrap on acceleration, its a characteristic of the Tacoma. I'm not crazy, just stating what I've been told by Toyota.

The critical part on mine was the bed did not align with the cab - if the OP’s doesn’t they have to move one or both if it’s really off.

    I didn’t know about the axle/frame alignment...

Where are the torx bolts located to loosen up/shift the bed? Under the truck? At the desk at work at the moment...

T55s. They're in big, sloppy sleeves, so you really can't mess it up. It would also be a great time to toss in some extra d-rings:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-tie-downs.521184/#post-16530908

Later in that thread, the 60ft-lb torque was confirmed. It's not in the SM for some reason. Also, the washers need to be hammered off of the OE bolts if you do d rings.

This dude posts a thread asking an aesthetic question about his truck without pics and he gets like 5-6 responses. I post a question about power inverters and I've gotta dust the cob webs off every week. :annoyed:

It's the Reddit effect. You only need a spark to start a fire, then its 2,000 comments trying to bait for karma and only 2 helpful responses that get down voted to oblivion.

    Sorry, don’t do inverters... :)

No really, your thread went underwater fast and I never saw it.

You're not insane. I went through the same process and took me many months of therapy and electrical shocks till I discovered is NOT the bed (may be in some cases) but the right tire IT DOES STICK OUT about 1/2" from the fender compared to the left one. ALL tacos have the same setup from the factory in order to align the drive shaft to the differential straight with no angles.
I have changed the leaf springs, rims and tires and still have the same off-set. For the nay-sayers, forget about the bed alignment and measure the distance from the frame to the outside of the tire (using something PINK like a long ruler, a 2X4, broom stick, etc) and compare the measurements.
