This is how it's usually formatted. I had the same thing happen when I was trying to sell my shotgun on armslist. I guess the developers thought implementing a simple Captcha was too much work

"Hello, do you still have your - shotgun - for sale?" (obviously running through each category -shotgun,pistol,rifle - and spamming every single listing with a simple script)

Then some nonsense about being in the military. Probably some Indian kid sitting in a click farm trying to scam some old lady. I wish I could send Blackwater to go over there and give them all swirlies until this stops.

 

I did send back a good e mail. Let see what they have to say about it.
I have all day to play this game with them.

Well I feel bad that you need to get sale of your truck like that. I hate the ideal that your going to sale your truck for under value like that I may just give you more for the truck.
I’m not that good at vehicles It’s a Beautiful truck can you tell me how far can I get on a full tank of gas.
I would like to see more of the truck before anyone gets the truck before me I want the truck.

There's an 80% chance that you will get a response that makes zero sense. I.e. they "guess" what the next part of the conversation is, and the script does all the work for them. It will likely have something to do with a money order or a cashier's check.

The fuel tank it's aproximately 18.5 gal. As i told you in my last email, right now I am in Offutt AFB, NE in a military base. I do a special training program each day, and we are not allowed to use phone line or get out of the unit, during training, otherwise I would have called you and seal the deal on phone. At the moment, email works best for me. The truck is already at the shipping company custody in Omaha, NE , it's already sealed and prepared to be delivered anywhere in the United States. The delivery process will be managed by eBay and I think they can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days. It will come with a clear title and reg. I am a member of the eBay buyer protection program and using this service you will get a 5 days testing period after delivery. So in order to move forward with this deal i just need your full name,full shipping address and a contact number so i can register the deal with eBay, after that they will contact you with an invoice where you will find full explanation of the process.

Craigslist needs captcha as well, it seems. No more scripts would work. Again, an easy solution that I don't understand why it is not used

This post is flagged off, but I have a question about all these shitbag Craigslist scams. Does anyone else notice how all of them seem to have the same type of woodsy almost forest-like backgrounds and look like they are professional photos? Where are the shitbags getting these photos?

 

CL is pretty much useless these days due to all the spam, and I can't understand why the staff doesn't at least do something to curb it, they just do not care.

 

yeah it's a joke. I don't bother selling things on there anymore, I just used ebay or sell stuff here. The mods don't mess with that 50 post before BST rule

I get a few of these scam emails each year, promising me millions!!, if I just send them all of my personal info. Luckily for me, my mama didn't raise no fool, and now days, I just delete them. It's really sad, that people are stupid enough to think that someone in a third world nation is going to send them money for nothing, and end up losing money by responding to these scams. I hope that each one of these dirtbags get what they deserve one day.

Nah, there is always a way around any of that. Guaranteed there is a way around it, or a way for scammers to use it to their advantage. Hell, there's a video of a robot clicking the "I'm not a robot" box, lol

The best solution is for people to not be complete morons and fall for this crap.

Would be nice for law enforcement to take this stuff more seriously, but they generally have bigger fish to fry.
