I’ll sell you my BMW, I’m done with it. You never realize how fast you’re going in it.

I have a Tacoma and an e30. Best of both worlds, and both are easy enough to DIY most of the work.

Humans lived outdoors for, literally, the last ten thousand years. It is staying inside, playing Warcraft in your Mom’s basement, or remodelling your bathroom for “Jack and Jill sinks”, or trending your bitcoins value while jerking off to Anime that is the latest “fad”.

Being outside, under the sky, and enjoying the outdoors with your family is the natural state of humanity.

We are finally getting back to normal.

@Azza You've had the truck for 9 months; if it's not buyer's remorse, what else can it be? What else has changed to get you pondering about this?

Yes I'm selfish but I rather have the outdoors to myself. Whenever I used to go shooting in BLM land I would always bring a few garbage bags to clean up the trash others left but after a while it seemed pointless. Humans suck and the more exploring and being outdoors as a fad, the more trash and junk is left behind. People can't be responsible and destroy nature so yes I wish this just stays a fad and dies out quickly

I had a 2019 Off Road and also am experiencing buyers remorse.

I had a Civic Si and then traded in for the truck. I wish I would’ve kept the Civic and then bought the truck. Not that the Civic is super fast or anything but it had enough pep and the manual transmission made it fun. Ah well...

I think this is largely due to the very recent trip to a lake in the mountains. I had to downshift to keep the RPMs high enough when it seemed like I was going down hill, which was frustrating. I had the bed full of stuff for the event and 5 people were in the truck. I just felt like I was lacking so much power. That would explain why I am missing the speed of the BMW.

    I agree.

One positive spin, is sometimes people getting out into these amazing places makes them more attached to them, less likely to vote for development or exploitation of wild areas.

For instance, Ducks Unlimited has done more to preserve marshes and wetlands than any environmental group, because the duck hunters want to do their thing in those areas.

Maybe the silver lining in so many people suddenly becoming “outdoorsy overlanders” is the preservation of more wild areas.

I dunno. A whole lot less people is probably the only lasting solution. The jerking off to Anime and playing Warcraft is helping with that, I suppose.

I know how the op feels sometimes. My last 4 cars purchased in order below:
    2008 M3
    2017 4Runner TRD Pro
    2013 M5
    2019 Tacoma 4x4 OR

I do miss the speed and handling of the BMWs but they are expensive to own (maintenance/insurance). I always seem to come back to Toyota. I have a feeling that my next car will be a Supra which is a Toyota/BMW mix.

You should take a look at the threads for Nitro-Gear regearing, and OVTUNE tuning.

Have done both, and they make a massive difference in how my 2019 TRD OR drives! Spendy? Oh hell yes! Worth it? HELL YES!

    OP,

Another piece of unsolicited advice. Change your perspective and expectations just a little in the truck. Accept that it’s a truck, it drives differently and purposefully. It literally rolls at a different pace. Enjoy the extra time on location. Enjoy the more relaxed pace. Enjoy what it provides that the Bimmer can’t.

I have a weekender I take out when I want a change of pace, but when I’m in the taco... 9 of 10 days... I purposefully change my perspective and enjoy the experience. It’s a purpose built vehicle, just like my weekender. I just make my viewpoint fit the car I’m driving and it’s so much more rewarding. My only ‘sort of regret’ is not getting the manual. I conceded that one to my copilot wife who’s not a fan.

I appreciate the constructive feedback everyone. As I mentioned, my wife drives the BMW 335is now ever since I got the Tacoma. She does know how to drive manual, just prefers not to. I need to convince her to swap vehicles here and there for our work days so I can mix it up a bit. If that doesn't cure this, then I might have to accept that the Tacoma wasn't the best choice.
