Am I in the wrong? SDHQ Black Friday discount

Per an Instagram conversation with SDHQ I was informed their switchpros mount qualified for free shipping under their Black Friday sale. After purchasing, I received an email stating this was not the case and that their SDHQ manufactured mount did not qualify for any discounts (free shipping) under their Black Friday sale. Did I misinterpret the Instagram conversation?

I realize it’s only $16 but at this point it’s more the integrity of a business and standing behind their word as opposed to passing their mistakes off on their customers.

 

They stated they only do free shipping on it and no discount from what I read in that screen shot.

Tax of living in Hawaii. At least most companies will come out and explicitly state Hawaii is excluded.

 

Initially, then after asked about the mount specifically the representative states “also” only free shipping.

 

I agree he said free shipping on both. Shipping should be free.

 

I still don’t see it that way.

Your next question in the conversation should have been, does this apply to Hawaii?

 

Do you still want it for that price? No need to have made the post if that’s the case.

If you don’t want it then cancel the order. Again, no need to post anything if that’s the case.

 

Seems like poor customer service to me.

 

Let them charge you, wait for it to arrive, call them and ask for the free shipping or you’re charging the whole order back with your credit card. They’ll credit you.

I’m assuming before complaining about $16 on here you reached out to them and said you were already told free shipping, now it wasn’t? Otherwise the whole “I’ll show you” public display isn’t any more appropriate than the customer service you’re having an issue with.

Personally, I’d ask them and show them that you were obviously told one thing and that’s why you ordered and ask if they’ll cut you a break and honor their word. If they say no, then I’d take it up as an experience not to forget in the future with other purchases you might consider with them. But.. if you skipped all that and just came to a forum to make a louder noise over $16 then you’re also the consumer I don’t want as a customer, and I’d happily cancel and refund your order, apologize and move on myself.

True, moving on. Was just curious what other people's opinion was on the situation. Just an unfortunate situation all around.

 

They give a forum discount if you private message them. When I bought my Switch Pro and mount it was good for the mount but not the Switch Pro.

 

I did in fact reach out to them, and this thread was only created after reaching out to them and giving them ample opportunities to correct the situation. The thread was created to get others opinions on the situation. This is the first time I've found myself in this situation and I was curious what others thought about it, if it was common practice in the industry, or common practice with the company.

This has been an experience, and will remember in the future to have things explicitly stated prior to purchasing.
I do realize were talking about $16 and it seems silly. My concern was simply business integrity and customer service, the monetary value is null at this point.

 

Always irks me when a company can't do as they promised and it comes to this to try to get a resolution.
