Am I losing it or is my blower motor far too loud?

i think there just isn't enough grease on the bearing. unfortunately, they aren't designed to be taken apart. I'm thinking about buying a cheap aftermarket blower fan to install while I attempt to overhaul my OEM fan. although you can get a brand new OEM fan for $68 on ebay or $57.58 plus shipping from partsgeek. Much better price than the dealership which is over double that.

I'd be careful ordering anything from partsgeek. Last time I did an order I got a beat up old used part that didn't even work. Tried to get a refund...what a cluster fluck.

Blower motor will go bad (fan/motor shaft will wobble relative to the bushing or bearing) and will need to be replaced. When I bought the replacement, the assembly was tighter than the old one.

Also having a similar issue. I can only hear it at low fan speeds though, once you turn the fan up the noise I think is still there but the sound of the air masks it. Just drove this home off the lot a week ago. So, interested if this got resolved.

My heater/AC motor is loud and powerful. Might it just be a loud powerful blower? I never run it higher than the low setting. It could run a residential AC.

Haven’t noticed any noise on my truck. Bought it a week ago. My last tacoma kinda had a buzzing noise from the blower motor on slow fan speed

Having the same issue of a noticeable hum that changes frequency and amplitude as the blower fan speed increases. Interestingly, the hum disappears when the fan speed reaches the highest setting. It does sound like something firm but flexible is touching the fan wheel blades. The truck is brand new (~500 miles). Ive removed the cabin air filter, felt inside the fan housing and manually spun the wheel… no noise or resistance of any kind. I made sure the filter, filter door and glove box cover are secured. I’d like to avoid the dealer for all the reasons members list above. It sounds like there is a manufacturing or installation defect that Toyota needs to own up to. Interesting that the 2016-17 blower fans were recalled for the same issue.

I’d love to hear if anyone has found a culprit for the humming noise.

Same problem here. It comes and goes. Of course when I took it to the dealer it wasn’t making the sound that day. Next day it started doing it again. Ugh

Me too. Just hit 23,000 mi. It started two or three weeks ago and sounds like a very quiet ticking on low speed but at higher speeds the airflow mostly covers it up. I've had the same symptom with other vehicles and it turned out to be debris. I dropped the fan and checked for debris and found nothing. Holding the fan in my hand in the same orientation as when it's installed, it still makes a ticking sound on low but I'm at a loss to figure out where it's coming from. Off to the dealer we go.
